This unlikely mix is a combo of my flipkart order of the Bollywood movie being delivered and meeting up with a UK-based friend who kindly carried the stuff I'd ordered to her place.

^Makhmalbaf Trilogy?? Nice ! What does the included booklet look like? I remember watching Gabbeh on a worn out VHS ages ago. Found it pretty intriguing back then.

40 pages odd, with around 15 pages of text, that includes a one page statement by MM and two essays (6+8 pages), haven't as yet read through. Rest is photographs, Cast/Crew listings and transfer notes.

I was finally able to take some time out to visit "Supreme Music" at Koti, in Hyderabad, which is quite possibly the city's only brick and mortar store for physical media. I purchased 16 films on Blu-Ray, and about 30 on DVD. It felt extremely nostalgic, and kind of bittersweet, to roam about in the store. It used to house a huge collection few years ago, with up to four of its floors being packed with discs and cassettes at its prime. Right now, it's just one floor, and has a small collection of Blus: Telugu titles barely took up one shelf; Hindi films had a whole column, which is like four to five shelves; and Hollywood titles took up a little space over that of Bollywood's. Rest of the store was mostly filled with DVDs, VCDs, audio CDs and MP3 CDs, along with a tiny collection of Audio Cassettes and Vinyls.

Here's the link to a pic of the Blus.

I was beginning to get worried about my Thin Man BD not reaching me, but it did today. I'm tempted to play a drinking game with this one, only I'd be dead of alcoholic liver cirrhosis before the movie ended.

Haven't posted a lot of the in-between hauls, but here's what I collected recently from relatives in the US who recently landed in Pune. The dust vac is a blower specifically useful for cleaning out electronics, including A/V systems and PC's. A friend of mine introduced me to it. It's a powerful machine and should help me keep dust off my stuff. Since it weighs a good deal by itself, the only other things I sent to them were the Poirot Early Cases set and Fist of Fury / Chinese Connection. While I much prefer Sherlock Holmes to Poirot in prose, Agatha Christie's creation lends himself very nicely to audio and film/TV adaptations, and by happy coincidence, I had never seen more than the odd episode of this series on Doordarshan, so here's a nice chunk of pleasantly old-school mystery stories for me to feast on.

Havenít posted in this thread for a long time. Want to share my recent acquisition of collectorís editions and some hard-to-find DVDs. Mondo Macabroís Bollywood DVDs go for over $50.00 each on e-Bay. The Moser Baer set of 50 must-see movies has to be very rare. I have never seen it before even on my visits to India.

Nice! I have Vols 1&2 of the Bollywood Horror Collection. Didn't opt for Vol 3 since I find both movies on it rather meh. Apparently when Mondo approached the Ramsays for re-issues they quoted an unviable licensing price. Sad. I would have also been interested in getting halfways decent DVD's of their excellent Jekyll and Hyde inspired Dahshat (Om Shivpuri gives a great lead performance). I see you also got Mondo's release of the Paki vampire flick Zinda Laash.

Have you seen Omar Khan's Zibahkhaana? It's heavily inspired by Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but has an appealing energy and respect for the genre, and Burkha-man is a memorable character.

Thanks! Ordered Zibahkhaana through Amazon Marketplace. I didn't know much about the Indian horror movies until I got the book Indian Horror Cinema: (En)gendering the Monstrous by Mithuraaj Dhusiya. I don't think that we are going to get older titles anymore. Most of the recent horror movies are on either Amazon Video or Netflix. Hotstar has a few good ones too.

Yeah, even the Mondo transfers of the Ramsay movies are very source-compromised (although in some ways, it lends a grindhouse effect), and only the first vol contains extras (good stuff, the one on South Asian Horror/Camp cinema is an eye-opener in terms of WTfery).

Didn't realize it, But I passed the 1000 mark in my BD collection some while ago (1028 right now but that includes pre-orders and stuff that still hasn't reached me). I think Disc 1000 was the BFI edition of FW Murnau's classic horror feature Nosferatu, which is not a bad choice for a landmark . For a long time, the title had been on my wishlist, mainly for James "Hammer" Bernard's score (I also own the Kino and Eureka/MoC releases ), and I snagged it when it finally reached what I considered a good price.
