Is this any better than Breath of the Wild?.. I finally played that game after sitting on it for over a year, horrible let down, I deeply hate that game. Main problem was that it’s not a game of skill, solving puzzles meant trying to get Link to correctly aim at what your looking at while clubbing something with a hammer that keeps breaking.. time off being precious I can no longer abide that kind of tedium.

We won’t know until it comes out, but the trailer looks like more of the same to me. Breath of the Wild got pretty rave reviews across the board and I’d expect the sequel will as well, so if you thought BotW was horrible, you should look for the things you didn’t like about BotW in reviews for Tears of the Kingdom.

If you didn’t like Breath of the Wild I’d definitely wait for reviews on this one before you buy it.

No reason for him to even wait for reviews. Its a direct sequel to BoW. It's going to be very similar.

Ahh didn’t even realize this wasn’t out, I’m behind on Zelda games, but guess I’m done with em. They aren’t games of skill anymore, controls aren’t designed well enough, too many puzzles I got stuck on because link can’t aim consistently. Like trying to golf a ball into a hole with a hammer that keeps breaking every 6 tries and you have to reload the stupid game. Time off is too precious for such tedium these days.

Know why I'm not playing it? The truth of the matter is, I cannot go back to 30fps gaming. I'm too spoiled with current gen consoles, playing everything at 60fps or higher. Going back to 30fps now feels so choppy and ugly looking to me. If it's not at 60fps I don't even bother. Maybe on the next Nintendo console the frames will be bumped up.

When we’re they? The Zelda games were never particularly difficult. I just played it over New Years and it seems about the same in terms of what’s required from you for combat as it always was.

I don’t recall in older Zelda games, puzzles that were the equivalent of quarter eating arcade games, not main mission stuff anyway.. it definitely took skill to get Epona out of the stable in Ocarina . This game, I can control Link the same way and watch him aim wrong differently every time.

For me it really depends on the game. Botw feels pretty good for me. Something like Splatoon must be 60 though. But Nintendo always designs their games in a way, that makes them better on an emulator. Wii games look surpisingly good when just scaled up to 1080p. I play Botw on the Switch because of the handheld factor but I played it on CEMU once in 1080p 60fps and it's just sad how these games are always held back a little by the hardware

Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser has revealed why the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, will be retailing for a higher price than other Switch games. Nintendo made big waves roughly a month back when it unveiled that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom would be the first Switch title to ever cost $69.99. And while fans haven't been happy with the idea of having to pay more for the latest Zelda entry, Bowser believes that the cost is justified based on what is seen in the game.

$70 for a game like this isn't an issue. We already know we're gonna get a quality game that we can sink hundreds of hours into. It's all the other games that are quick 10-20 hour experiences that aren't always completely stellar that don't justify the $70 price tag. Game companies can charge whatever price they want but it's up to the consumer to vote with their wallet on if a game is worth that price. Don't give into the hype and wait for a price drop if you're not positive this is a day 1 must play that will be worth your money. It's really that simple.

Considering Nintendo is the only company I trust to release a solid game not need many patches... id be fine paying 70-100 for Zelda.

It blows my mind that a game like Metroid Dread is still 60.00.

Have you looked around for a used copy? I feel like I've seen it go lower from Gamefly in the past.

Oh for sure. I'm just talking about standard, walk into Gamestop or Target and buy it retail price.

Luigis Mansion 3, a 3-1/2 year old game, 60.00.
Mario Odyssey, a 6 year old game, 60.00.
Mario Maker 2, a 4 year old game, 60.00.

And that's just a few examples. There's many more where older Switch games are still priced egregiously. I can't imagine that titles like these are flying off of shelves anymore. Why would Nintendo be so stubborn as to be willing to sit on inventory at that price when they could discount it and move so many more units? What's the thinking? Games like this should be 20-30 bucks by now.

I agree and that's a big reason why I hardly use my Switch anymore after buying it roughly a year ago. The prices for a lot of the games years after release is absurd no matter how a fan will try to spin it. It doesn't help that people still buy some of these older games (certain games still somehow appear in the Top 10 each month), so Nintendo likely feels they can get away with never dropping their games permanently like every other company in the industry, but that doesn't change the fact that it comes off as being even more greedy than Sony's $70 move.

I consider this being $70 a joke given the hardware. In no way should a game running on PS3-like hardware be the same price as a game running on the PS5. I know this game will offer massive amounts of content, but there are games on the PS5 that do as well. I'd also be a little more understanding if it wasn't for the fact that 6 year old games are still full price almost every day of every year.

Totally disagree, most first party Nintendo games hold their value, which cuts both ways, you could play a game and then sell it on for a decent price.

The power of the hardware is irrelevant, as it's only really core gamers that care about this, the mass majority of Switch owners will simply buy and enjoy these games, and as for price, games are only ever worth what people are willing to pay, and with the Switch and it's very impressive software totals, they seem to have pitched it just right.

Weather you agree or not has no bearing, outside of your own subjective opinion.

They still haven't announced a Tears of the Kingdom console variant, although one has more or less been proven to exist. However, the Tears of the Kingdom limited edition console won't include the actual game.
