He puts together Bitrates for Video and Audio more along the lines of where I have been telling you guys it's up to around 20Mbps Average for Video. Especially if you have Fiber and Hardwired Ethernet the Quality is catching up to Disc Real Fast!

You know blu rays generally have higher bit rates then 20mb. those numbers would actually be a rather subpar blu ray probably. All he really said was 4k stream is about 2/3rd of the way to a decent blu ray at least in terms of bit rate.

Blu-ray, the standard for high quality home cinema, has generally adhered to a maximum bit rate of about 40Mbits/s for 1080P movies. However, with the recently release of Ultra HD Blu-ray, which features 4K playback, movies can use bit rates as high as 128Mbits/s.

The best iTunes/Movies Anywhere UGD playback is 32 Mbits, most 4K streaming for say for Disney is about 18-20 Mbits/s, HD is 11 Mbits/s. A lot of HD streaming can below if it's only HD, vs Full HD. (720P vs 1080P)

Please note I am taking about combined A/V bitstreams. Thats the one thing that streaming lacks, lossless audio when audio can represent a lot of audio quality difference.

Maybe by the time 8K streaming is available they'll have caught up to 1080p Blu-ray.

If streaming is ever comparable to physical media that will be nice. Meanwhile, it is the best time to love physical media.

What BS, show me ONE post where you have measured the data rates for streaming.

As to big improvements in streaming data rates, not happened. In 2016 Netflix was streaming at 16 Mbps as displayed on my Sony FMP-X10 media player.

As to digital lockers, there is a fair amount of difference between them for the same title. In general, Apple has the best but not always.

Funny how folks make a big deal about the difference between streaming at 15 Mbps vs 20 Mbps (1.3X, 33%) and make light of a 3X, 200% difference.

What causes streamed video to look it’s playing back at the wrong frame rate? I noticed Pluto sometimes looks like the camera can’t keep up with fast movement. is this frame skipping or is it more complicated than that do you think?

I wouldn’t dream of watching films on it but I do watch repeats of tv series Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares.

Pluto and Tubi don't care about the quality of anything they use to sell you ads.

Aspect Radio ? Frame Rate ? ... Just watch these ads.

I do appriciate them for having all the bad shark movies ... I feel compelled to see them all.

Long story so will start with this article (which I have not read). In a nutshell, you have the source frame rate, device capabilities and display capabilities. An example, it was not until 2021 before Apple added integer frame rate to the ATV4K therefore prior to that 24 or 25 Hz content would drop frames (skip) because it only did 23.976. If a static shot you would never know but with horizontal pans it would be quite noticeable, well at least for some of us. Another would be a static shot with a car moving across the screen which would look like stop motion animation (well at least for some of us ).

CAUTION TO EVERYONE: Once you learn a how to spot a video aberration (or hear a audio aberration) you can not unlearn. So don't blame me.

Wow, kind of ticked that the Shield doesn't support HDR in YouTube and Hulu considering how much I paid for the Pro. Another reason why streaming is inferior in my opinion.
