Default Donkey Kong Country Returns!!

Quote:
Donkey Kong Country Returns is a side-scrolling 2.5D platform game developed by Retro Studios, set to be released by Nintendo for the Wii console at the end of 2010. It is the series' first traditional home console installment since Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, and also the first Donkey Kong Country entry not to involve Rare during the development.

The original DK Country was fantastic. I bet this one will be pretty sweet, too. Consider it owned. This might be my first Wii game purchase since last year, unless something comes out before it (like that Metroid game, which looks awesome).

The Wii/Nintendo is just dominating this gen with all these great games coming out this Christmas. Kirby Epic Yarn, Wii Party, Donkey Kong Returns, Goldeneye Wii, Epic Mickey and even including games that already came out like Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid other M.

The game is great except one major(my opinion) thing. I am so sick and tired of nintendo forcing "motion" controls on the player. A key element of this series of games is dk's roll....in this game you have to shake the contoler to perform a roll...instead of just pressing the run button. This totally disrupts the game flow for me to have to shake the damn remote 10-30 times per level..( you have to shake for other actions as well) Nintendo is trying to cater to us old school gamers with this game...they shouldn't have "wii-ified" the controls.

I havnt played it yet but I can envision what u mean especially when u are use to playin a classic like DKC. I think I will be cool either way as I love Mario Galaxy (Wiified controls) and I also like very much the New Super Mario Bros. (old school controls.) I plan to either buy this or have Gamefly ship me a copy out soon. Got Em!!

Have you played this co-op yet? Just wondering how it might compare to New Super Mario Bros. in that department.

Donkey Kong was the first game I've ever played. I've spend hours and hours finding secrets, beating queens, playing all over again.. I've watched the trailer and I'm 100% sure I'll love this one too..even with annoying shaking of the controller.

This game is the reason why I finally bought a Wii. And let me say this: It is without a doubt one of the best games I have ever played. The old soundtrack is back, the graphics are beautiful, the gameplay is excellent, the animations are flawless and the level of difficulty is abolutely perfect. It is really challenging, but never unfair. I already played it through two times and I can't wait to do it again. But for now I'm trying to find and collect all the KONG letters and the puzzles. There is still a lot to do! And the best thing IMO is, that is has the classic SNES feeling from DKC 1-3. The only downer is that King K. Rool and his Kremblings are missing, and that you can't play as Diddy Kong in single player mode. But other than that it's an almost perfect game!

Yea I am on the 3rd world right now and I am highly enjoying. I think I still prefer the ones for the SNES but then again those are some of the greatest games ever so thats not saying anything bad about the new one as it had a lot to live up to. Excellent sequel. Got Em!!

Totally agree with you. I hope we'll get a sequel to DKCR.

Huh? Amazon has it for $43.99 right now and I've seen it dip a bit below $40 since it's been out. Just keep an eye on Amazon and you can probably find it for around $35 soon enough.

Thanks for the reminder, for some reason I don't think of Amazon when it comes to games. Yea, I know thats stupid as I buy tons of blu's from them. I always seem to drift to gamestop when I get a game (which is not to often). Just looked at the site and they have Target showing it at $39.99. I feel like a dolt now .

Guys it's worth the price the game is fantastic. I'm a hardcore game collector and i'm a long time Nintendo junkie. The wii has been my least favorite Nintendo console to date i'm not into the motion controllers and think there beyond a gimmick. With that said when it comes to ANYTHING side scrolling old school Nintendo knows what there doing New Super Mario Bros wii was fantastic and this game is also I've had as much fun with donkey kong as i did mario.
