Have you thought about the Cinema 40? Or even its little brothers the 50 and 60?

I wish my stand was 2' from the wall. I didn't have the NostraLDG foresight. It's tight. And I die a little bit every time I have to connect/disconnect something.
Wow Wabs. I stand corrected, you are the clairvoyant one. It's funny that you mentioned the Cinema 40. As soon as I saw your post, the Cinema 40 came to mind. I went to the Marantz website just to compare it to the AV10's feature set. They are close, however, it's a 9.4 unless it's switchable to accommodate 11.2 config. Unfortunately it's not. Not only that, no XLR's! Last but not least, it has a component video input. So it's a no-go. I'm hopeful that Marantz will not forget about the 77## pre-pro owners who would love to replace the old design with the new Cinema/Reference style. It may not be until the beginning of summer or maybe by Black Friday.

I have to assume you're using XLR's for audio connectivity, right? I considering swapping out my old RCA's (Ol' Skol Monster Cable M1000i's & M550i's) for XLR's. It would only be for pre-out speaker connection. Not sure if it would make that much of a difference due to the short distance between amps and the pre-pro (Maybe 3 ft max).

Wow. For some reason, I thought it would be more compact, but denser. I don't know, the images makes it look smaller. But that photo you posted corrects my presumption in an immediate fashion.

It's gorgeous indeed. You've removed any and all doubt,... you are the Sensei of Acquisition.

Yeah, well being a planner is a blessing and a curse...while I obsess over stuff like this, you already have your AV 10 in your rack and connected whereas I definitely do not. Oh well, hopefully this weekend now that football is over and I aimlessly wander around the house, looking to AV goodness to fill the empty space that was once occupied by the roar of the crowd.

I have to wait until June to have a house that can have an empty space....so you are still way ahead of me.

And let me add, I never bothered with cable management when I had my HT set up last time....but come this June, I am going to make sure I have both the space and organization I need so I don't have to worry about wearing the right pants or suffering an anxiety attack, LOL.

Hey Rage, that ain't too bad. I realize that viewing the front stage from the front gives the perception that it's a snake pit back there, but the photo shows that the organizing should be less challenging compared to the mess I had to deal with,....

When I had my equipment set up, it was really bad back there. I wish I took a picture of it, but I think I didn't on purpose to avoid having any night terrors kick in.

I see it now...yeah that is bad. I really believe mine was really, really bad. When I had to tear it all down and put it in storage, undoing the cables turned out to be the hardest part. It was in knots, yes, knots.....speaker wire, HDMI cables, RG6 cables and even power cords all tied up with one another.

Looking forward to pics of the AV10 integrated in your set up Wabo.

I will take some photos of the current cable arrangement. It's an organized mess. Better than what that image shows, but still makes me looking back there.

Wabs is probably calibrating the AV10 as we exchange posts.

All in due time, we all move at our own pace in life and HT.

I did a much better job in my living room system as it's out there for all to see (including the wifey). The front shot is clean, it's peeking behind the curtain that's a shit show.

I try to take pics not only for reference, but to show progression for nostalgic reasons.

So I take it you've ordered the Cinema 40 by now... right?

I agree, an updated 77xx series should be a hot seller for them.

Yes. All XLRs. Including subs and SACD player too.

Say what you will about Monster, but your old school Monster cables are nice cables.

Yeah, there's nothing compact about it. In fact, the end actually hangs off my cabinet about an inch. But in my setup it doesn't matter.

Yeah, I've always been impulsive. And more times than not it usually comes back to bite me. But you know what they say. Can't teach an old dog new tricks.

When A-A-ron emerges from his darkness retreat and sees his shadow it means he's a Jet. So you'll have that going for you until next season. Which is nice.

Probably won't be calibrating until next week. Need to get motivated.

Default So, what's the verdict?

Hello Wabs.

Now that you've had the AV10 for a few weeks (man, time does fly), what's your initial impressions? We can see that Marantz knock it out of the park on the aesthetic. However, with your extraordinary system, can you detect a discernible difference, if any in the audio quality?

How about the way it handles the video processing?
Are you just passing thru or are you allowing the AV10 to process the video signal?

Marantz talks as if there will be marked differences in all aspects. Your system will make that hard to detect because your devices are all top performers in their respective categories.
-The Panny 9000, currently best 4K player in class.
-The McIntosh amplification, nothing more to be said about that, It's Mac amplification!
-The Martin Logan/JL Audio speaker array, Really? You have to ask? Fuhgeddaboudit!!
-You still have the McIntosh CD transport, right? Like I said, top performers.
(Yes, I put your system on Blast!!!) It deserves nothing less than the adulation given.

Lastly, In your experience so far, do you think Marantz has resolved the notorious "middle of the night activation for no apparent reason" phenomenon? Have you walked into the room and the AV10 is on when you know without a doubt, you shut it all down the night before? I'm still experiencing that with my 7702 MkII. I've changed the settings for HDMI control switching it to off and it's even worst now. I want the pass-thru function activated because there are some morning where I turn on the TV just to do a weather check or watch the news before I head out. I don't need the whole system activated. I connect the Roku as a pass thru device.

Anyway, I hope you are enjoying the beast! I just looked at the back panel for the hundredth time. That's a nice backside!!! It's as phat as it can get. Looks like it weighs 50lbs! I love the rounded edges too. That alone indicates Marantz wanted it to look like big money. Mission accomplished.
And I'd bet a $1 you haven't calibrated yet. It probably has your system sounding so good, there's no need.

What's happening, LDG?

Has it really been a few weeks since the AV10 blessed my HT? Damn. Time really does fly. I have to tell you, like the old McDonalds saying goes, I'm loving it. Makes me look forward to powering on the ol' HT every night. Plus you have the option of changing the accent lights to blue.

Video looks great.

I still do have the McIntosh SACD player. Sadly, it gets very little use nowadays.

How bout you? You still spinning any music much?

No middle of the night activation here. Lol. You know the Cinema 40 doesn't suffer from premature activation.

Well, it's Friday and I'm hitting the Jimmy Johns for their new caprese sammich then Ed and I are starting the weekend.
[Show spoiler] Giddy-up.

Edit: Forgot to mention you owe me a $1. Ran a cal last week. Albeit a quicky, and I need to do some adjustments on the app. But a cal nonetheless.

I just seen a short review of your AV10, and it made wondering how many of the 15channels are you using?

Hello Wabs.

Like your MC SACD, my Denon DVD3930CI Universal get's very little play. It's funny that you mentioned the usage or lack there of. Last week, I was having issues with my HTPC when it came to playing music files. I was getting static while playing my hi-rez 2 channel files. While in troubleshooting mode, I wanted to make sure it wasn't a system issue (speakers, cables, DAC, processor, etc,...). So I turned on the Denon and inserted one of my CD's (Marc Antoine's Laguna Beach) in the tray. It took a a few minutes for the Denon to bootup/read the disk, but once it did, it played the disc flawlessly. Wabs, it sounded so good! So my static issue is not a system flaw. It's something within the chain from the HTPC to DAC to Processor. It's either the HT/Omega Claro-Halo Sound Hi-Res card or it's the hard drive starting to fail. That's why I'm considering the Mac Mini M2.

Is that snow on the ground?!! We've had exactly .50 inches, if that, of snow all winter. We had one cold snap (below freezing for 3 days) and folks lost their minds!

So I owe you a dollar? Do you have a Cash App or Venmo account? I can forward the dollar in an immediate fashion.
