Default LG OLED Official Owners Thread

Since I am a new LG OLED owner, and I don't see an official owners thread on this site, I figured I could start one.
This thread can focus on any questions, comments, news, and reviews that LG OLED owners or even just LG OLED enthusiasts can share.
Maybe the mods could even make it a sticky thread and generate some traffic, all in the attempt to share info and exchange personal experiences

New to this forum, and I own both the EF9500 and the E6. Both great tv's. I prefer the E6 for dark room viewing as it does not have the near black banding issue that the 9500 has.

Have only one little quirk with E6. That issue was with gamma 2.2. I could lower brightness to 0, and would still have a glow at 0% in a totally dark room. Was easily fixed by lowering 2 point low to -6 for r g and b. Gamma 1886 has no such issues. I don't know if others have that issue, but that's the easy fix. You would never notice it you had a light on in the room, just on a full black screen in the dark.

Great to have LG Oled users like you. I am a like a sponge right now, learning as much as I can about these new displays. I am a proud LG Oled owners for just 5 days now[emoji41]

As an OLED veteran (going back to LG's first OLED TV, the 55EA9800 curved model), I'm looking forward to getting my G6 exchanged on Saturday. The current one developed a fault at less than a week into ownership (a transistor/cluster of pixels became stuck on red).

Sorry to hear that. The chances of ending up with a bad pixel are always there. I've only had my EG9100 for a week but so far so good

An interesting unboxing video of the 2016 E model.I cant see anyone who has experienced backlight-less panels go back to LED!

So I walk into Best Buy today to check out the new 2016 line, and this one caught my attention...Very similar in built to my 2015 EG9100 but the rear side is in grey rather than than white.Still 3 HDMI ports, still super-thin, with silver-coated stand.
Of course the brightness and color seemed to have been painfully high on all of them, but the curved C seemed to be the most well-rounded (no pun) among the C, B, and E.

Hooked up the B6 tonight. The picture quality is outstanding. I do have one question. When a movie is about to start and the screen goes from black to the start of the movie the screen seems cloudy on the edges. What is this called? Also, will it improve as more hours are put on the panel? I have 186 hours on there right now. The only time I saw it slightly in actual content was when Loki is give the mind control staff in space. Thanks for any replays.

If you order the oleds from cleveland plasma, you get them for much cheaper than best buy.good opyion for people on budgets and has a good reputation over at avs.com and I purchased my js9500 from him.

Vignetting. I think it will diminish over time with compensation cycles.

.
He does, but he doesn't offer a interest-free payment plan like other private retailers.

Pardon my ignorance, but what the heck is "vignetting" about? Is it when we can see the pixelation structure in pictures that have colors fading from gray to black?

Yep by far the most disappointing part is not having an interest free option like best buy.

Vignetting is black flames from the sides in dark content.

Not all of us can afford to pay for a new LG Oled upfront, even at the great prices offered by Cleveland Plasma. I rather pay a few bucks more knowing I hvae 18 months to pay off my balance. It's called being on a budget

That's what I understand, but I am still having a hard time spotting it on my EG9100. Is there something on youtube that we can use as a good example of vignetting? I dont see any black frames from the sides in dark content. The only thing I ever detect on my panel is "pixelation" on black clothing, or in dark alleys, which can be mitigated by lowering brightness and contrast and increasing Oled Light to 100.
For example when you open Netflix app, and you see the big red Netflix logo, the background is black but with the logo casting a shadow below. Now, that shadow is not 100% smooth in the way it dissipates from its center outward to where the screen turns totally pitch black

no..but you are all over the map here and other threads..slow down..you have a lot to learn about displays.

Oled is in it's early birth stage like plasma. It is superior to any LCD LED tv which makes it the best display right now even with it's flaws. I don't believe that would be true if plasma, especially Kuros, were still available. For picture displaying and other "sea aquarium" screen saver type displaying it can be fun. Time will tell if OLED and 4K will be accepted. B4 that happens someone else better step up to the plate with an OLED or we could be looking at another SHARP "ELITE". Big, new, expensive, faulty, controversial and now worthless. I took it on the chin for being against the Elite but here I am with my plasmas still having the best video possible. Be careful and cautious Rocky. Let Robert sell the tv's, that's his business. LG tv's was came in last place at the VE shootouts when they even bothered to deliver a tv. Until then only get one if you can get it cheap, otherwise pass . I am waiting for a commitment by other manufacturers rather than invest in another expensive standalone technology.

I never owned a plasma so I can't speak about that. But I am personally very excited about Oled as an alternative to LCD/LED. OLED prices are actually becoming more reasonable and I don't see it fading away in the future.
Also realize that I have only owned my very first oled for less than a month now, so being eager to share thoughts and opinions with other Oled users is quite normal IMO
