it's interesting to note that AppleTV has the rights to Dolby Vision/Atmos, while Vudu doesn't. Paramount had some originally that way, then they got changed over. Surprising that since Fox is now Disney run, Disney just doesn't make it a blanket availability to both streaming platforms.

Are you talking the App's ability to play back itself? Because according to the listings on VUDU, all of the Paramount titles (except for It's a Wonderful Life and Sum of All Fears) are listed as Dolby Vision, it is in the bottom section where is ask if you are UHD ready... (Just recently finish a inventory of my digital files) They not all necessarily Dolby Atmos, due to a film's original mix, some are standard 5.1.

It sounds more like a needed update to the actual streaming app for whatever device being used.

As for why HDR10+ is being used so sporadically, it likely due to Samsung getting out of the UHD player business and cutting back on funding likely given to the studios to use the product. Panasonic might care to do this, but they don't even release TV's in the US.

PS, it would be nice if Vudu would update their compatible devices listing a little more often, but since they're on the sales block, they might not care.

some of the newer Paramount titles are now automatically DV, but early on one movie in particular: "Interstellar" was DV via AppleTV was an exclusive, but then changed over DV.

Does HDR10 + improve the picture over normal HDR10 and by how?

It has been said in the past that if your TV can go beyond 500 nits of brightness (most 4k TV's that aren't budget sets with lesser panel capabilities), there is little visible difference between HDR10 and HDR10+. It's just static vs dynamic metadata that seems to have been targeted to lower grade TV's that need more assistance) with 10 bit encoding as before, but HDR10+ is less capable than Dolby Vision, especially when DV is encoded as FEL (Full Enhancement Layer - 12 bit).

Only when it has no relevancy to the thread. You just don't like factual information.

Can't say that the https://hdr10plus.org is a highly active web site. Last Press was Jan 6th, 2020. Check Google news and do a search for HDR10+. It's pretty sparse.

that's funny I didn't notice that on the backlogo on my copy it just states "HDR +" in little itty bitty font.
