the last week I noticed that every now and then (not very often), all of a sudden I hear like a brief squeeky noise coming from either right front or righr surround or right atmos speakers. The squeeling sound is so brief (1 second or less) that I was not able to identify from which of those right side speakers it comes from, or what would cause it. If I had to describe the noise, it would be similar to that of a microphone being tested in a concert hall, but very brief, not even a second at best before it goes away.
Like I said it's very rare but it does happen every now and then on rare occasions. Any advice? Could it be cable-related or receiver-related? |

It could be a few things from cables to a bad speaker but the only thing i have noticed is a had a quick static sound come from my speakers and it turned out to be the banana plugs i had would wiggle in the back of my denon avr so i bought some good ones that when plugged in was nice and tight and it took care of the problem. Are you using DEQ or anything that boost the sound (another amp plugged into your denon) when pausing the movie or fast forwarding it?

In the process of upgrading my system:
Upgraded my Denon S910W to a Denon X3300W (plan to keep the x3300w for a couple years then probably upgrade to a Marantz) Upgraded my Polk PSW505 subwoofer to a SVS SB-2000 (with plans to buy a second one later this year, maybe early summer) Added an Emotiva XPA-3 (gen3) amp (for front speakers eventual upgrade) Need to upgrade my speakers, currently have Polk TSX440t, 250c, 220b and a pair of Polk OWM5. But, I won't do that till probably the fall or early next year. Still deciding on what speakers to get though. Maybe the Polk LSIM line on-sale. Will probably get two sets of bookcases and a center, whatever line of speakers I get. Don't think I will do towers this time around. |

UPDATE Well, I bit the bullet and purchased 4 Klipsch RP-250S Surround speakers, so I've now upgraded all my speakers except my subs, which are from the earlier Reference line. The 250s don't arrive until Tuesday....yes!

Question for fellow Denon AVR owners, I am in the process of upgrading my speakers to the Klipsch RP line of speakers and I am considering the Klipsch RP-140SA Dolby Atmos Speakers as my 6th and 7th speaker.
This would then become the 5.1.2 set-up when using Dolby Atmos. In the manual for my Denon AVR (x3300w), it states that this can be configured as either FDL & FDR when placed on top of the front L & R speakers. Or, SDR & SDL when placed on top of your surround L & R speakers. I am curious if anyone has tried this type of configuration with their Denon AVR home theater? Another reason I am leaning in this direction is that I am also planning to upgrade my receiver to one that can do 7.1.4 (x4400h). That way, I can add two more modules on top of the front speakers for 4 in total. Right now I am looking at: RP-280f x2 (front L & R towers) RP-450c (center) RP-160m (surround back L & R bookshelf) RP-140SA (Atmos modules x4) two on top of front towers and two on top of bookshelf speakers (optional?) R-14s (surround L & R) - not sure if I need these though? Might also upgrade my Emotiva XPA-3 (Gen3) to an XPA-5 to power the main 5 (towers, center, and bookshelves) and let the receiver power the rest. |

Hello there. First post here. how is the Denon AVR-X4400 for movies mostly?
I have an older non-atmos Marantz (SR7008) and I want to upgrade so that I can set up a 5.1.4 atmos system. I have paradigm Monitor speakers and a SVS PC 12 subwoofer. I looked at the Marantz 7011 but I'm too late to get one at a good price and the 7012 etc are just too much. The Denon (same company as marantz I know) is selling for a good price but I don't see 'much" love for it on the net...I would use it 70% for movies and 30% music...any owners who can give me their opinion? some people say that it runs a bit hot and that the sound is not as "warm" as the Marantz or that it lacks "dynamics"...I certainly want something as good as my current 7008 with Audyssey(Denon has it I know) but with atmos...any opinions pls? thanks! ![]() |

I used to own a Harman Kardon HK 247 receiver until both of the HDMI inputs died on me. I spent the last couple of weeks looking for a replacement and I ended up with the Denon x2400H. This is a very important purchase for me as I do not upgrade often. Because of that, I have the philosophy that it's better to overbuy now to make sure I'm somewhat future proofed so I don't have to upgrade again in a couple of years. I almost bought the Denon 720W for $300 but ended up with the x2400h for $400. The two extra hdmi inputs, extra hdmi output, Audyssey XT, and the extra 20w were worth the extra money to me.
Frankly, I'm blown away with this thing. I was up and running in 30 min (including running audyssey) which is a miracle compared to some of the other electronics I've set up. The biggest problem with my old receiver was I could never get the surround speakers to blend in with the fronts/center. It never felt organic and sometimes the surrounds were downright annoying. With this receiver, everything blends in perfectly. I rewatched scenes from movies that always sounded off and they all sound fantastic now. I also toggled Audyssey on and off and it definitely sounds way better with it on. The HK 247 did sound a little warmer but the Denon is so much more detailed without sounding bright or harsh. I'm running the Pioneer Andrew Jones speaker package so obviously different speakers may yield a different result. All in all, this receiver is one of the best electronics purchases I've made in awhile (I'm not even using HEOS or any of the online music stuff). The only question now is how long it lasts. Mine came with a 3 year warranty so that makes me feel a little bit better about longevity. |

I am having a tough time deciding between Denon 7.1 receivers (I guess actually 7.2 since I have dual subs). Keep in mind I only use my receiver for my home theater projector hooked up to a 3D blu-ray player and I rarely use it for TV. I do not use it for listening to music or gaming or streaming and I don't really care about wireless setup or apps or anything like that. So basically things like tons of HDMI ports, using my phone for controls, and connecting to multiple rooms etc are not important.
I am debating between S930, the X1400, and the older X2300 (possibly the 3300 if the increased cost would somehow be justified for my needs). I would appreciate hearing any pros and cons and recommendations please, and if there may be something else along these lines that would work I am open to suggestions. Hoping to keep the budget in $400-700 range. |

When attempting to watch a 4K disc, I recently discovered the TV (Sony 900E) did not have the enhanced HDMI input turned on. When that is enabled, I'm not getting sound when I switch to my cable box on my Receiver (Denon AVR-X2300W). Am I going to manually have to turn it on and off every time I switch from my watching a movie on my UHD player or streaming to watching cable? Is there a setting I need to enable with the receiver?

I have the Denon X2100 and lately have been having issues with the picture randomly going black for a couple of seconds and then back on - no loss of sound at all. Happens with blu ray, and my PVR
at first I thought it was the HDMI cables so I switched those out for new ones, and it still happened. Tried hooking up a different TV and still happened. Only thing that fixed the issue is when I bypassed the Denon X2100 completely and hooked everything up directly to the TV I'm now looking at having this repaired but am wondering if I should just get a new receiver instead of paying to repair this one... anyone else go through this? |

I'm not sure if I should post this in the TV, AV receiver or 4k blu-ray player section. I have a Samsung k8500 blu-ray player, LG OLED b7 TV and an older denon receiver that doesn't do HDR passthrough. I have connect the the main hdmi port on the blu-ray player to the TV and the second hdmi port to my receiver. When both are plugged in, I only get a PCM sound coming from the receiver. I set up the movie player to bitstream uncompressed to the Receiver, but dolby true hd and DTS HD isn't coming through. When I unplug the hdmi to the tv, I get a black screen but the Dolby True HD sound comes through. Once I plug it in back to the TV, it goes back to PCM.
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? |
