Amazon lists the new Dragon Ball Z movie coming out on Blu-ray as having a 1.33:1 Aspect Ratio. However, this is just a pre-order as it is not coming out till Nov. 13. Can amazon be wrong? Are they ever wrong when it comes to the specs of Blu-ray releases? I was looking forward to this release but I do not want burn-in from the pillars on the left and right. Unfortunatley until OLEDs come out, 1.33:1 is just not an option for me. So could amazon be wrong?

1.33:1 is OAR for all of DBZ. Maybe 1.66:1. Virtually all anime before the last few years is 1.33:1, except for theatrical films. Roadshow "movies" like the DBZ and Sailor Moon ones were always 1.33:1
However I'm sure that they've matted it down to 1.85:1 |

thats wrong about amazon because it says on my dragon ball z link on my url when you click on it that it says about it coming in a widescreen form but knowing Funimation it will be anamorphic widescreen so if you want to see it in full screen you could if not then just watch Broly in widescreen thats up to you. I hope it will come with previews for more anime from Funimation that will be on Blu-Ray like maybe Fruits Basket, Moon Phase, Trinity Blood, Samurai 7, Fullmetal Alchemist, or something cool like that

OAR for the Broly movies is 1.85:1, so it shouldn't be 1.33:1. Amazon is most likely incorrect. Color me skeptical about the so-called remastering however, judging by how badly they handled the TV episodes.
EDIT: I'm trying to see if I can get some kind of official confirmation either way. Last edited by Frode; 10-23-2007 at 03:30 PM. |
