The most recent episode's scene with Darlene and Mark. I have to say I was impressed! Sarah Gilbert killed that scene

THANK YOU! I was actually coming here to say just that. I personally think Sara Gilbert is a fine actor (and as an actor myself, I can, at the least, identify sh*t acting), I just think she gets compared to Laurie Metcalfe and John Goodman, which isn't remotely fair. If anyone, I'd say Lecy Goranson is the one who struggles the most, however, these past few seasons have done wonders for her range, and she's had some wonderful moments here and there.

I still watch the show because, one, I DO still enjoy it quite a bit, and two, I really appreciate how unapologetically real it is. I'll admit, I don't live in the midwest nor have the financial misfortune that the Conners do, but I've seen enough and know enough to know that there truly are families like them, and it's good to see a sitcom family that's not perfect and shiny and unrealistic.

If I have any complaints, I'm not sure if it's been explained why (I don't even believe the characters have addressed it), but I wish they hadn't written off DJ. Even though he was just a here-and-there character, it's odd to still have Mary yet not her dad (her mom's absence is at least understandable). And this isn't a complaint as much as a concern, but did something happen to John Goodman? All his dialogue comes out a bit garbled and slurred lately, and it's concerned me enough to where it distracts me. Anyone know what happened?

I noticed that about Goodman awhile ago, yeah. I feel like either he's just getting old, or maybe he had a small stroke or something. I couldn't find anything about it.

I've always thought it could possibly be dentures. But I have no proof of that.

I don't know. I can't stand Sarah Gilbert since The Conners started. I don't know if I'm missing the comedy between her and Roseanne, or what, but she has been dull and boring for me since Roseanne left. Same with John Goodman. Laurie is on the edge. They wrote off DJ. Lecy is the only one I am enjoying! It feels like most have given up in their scenes.

Well, Darlene mostly rely on sarcasm, and if you lose the one writing your best lines you can tell the difference. She really is the one that suffered most the dismissal of Roseanne, even her delivering in lines and comedy time seems a bit off and certainly worsened since the original series.

Lecy I really reevaluated her. She was a little rusty in the revival, but since then the character really took off and her acting got better, and now I wouldn't guess she stopped acting for 20 years.
I also rewatched a few episodes from the original series and she was better than I remembered.

Wonder if they'll bother putting any jokes in it next season, or just stick with the absolute misery fest it's been for the last couple.

I just can’t believe it’s going on for 6 seasons.

Sometimes I think it’s Disney’s way to say FU to Roseanne till the end of time regardless of profitability lol

people, including me, like the nostalgia and characters. it's definitely gone downhill but I still watch for Becky, Dan, and Jackie.

Pretty crazy it will pass 100 episodes. I'm glad though. It is still a constant performer for ABC so obviously there are a lot of people who are continuing to enjoy it. And with the high paychecks for the cast, it clearly is still very profitable.

The Conners is ABC’s highest rated series in the 18-49 demo; the primary metric used to sell advertising. Episodes pick up 30% more viewers in DVR/On Demand/Streaming. The ratings for season five are also up 19% over season four in the demo.

Well I'm hyped again and want to be on par once season 6 begins, so I resumed watching it. Guess I'm the most nostalgic viewer in the world.

Watched the Halloween episode and the next one, and they weren't even bad, there were funny jokes too.

I assume this show won't start up again until next year, now.
