Personally, I prefer the Viva Elite cases, as do some others, but some people prefer the Vortex too. It's really a matter of preference. There are two brands the major studios use, Viva Elite and Vortex, and each studio has their own preference.

The Viva Elites have more options (up to 10-disc cases), are generally thinner for multi-disc cases, and they don't have hubs which stack discs. Vortex's new 4-disc case only has two hubs which requires two discs to be stacked on each hub.

Are there any substitute bluray cases that can be used to replace a broken steelbook insert case besides buying and gutting another steelbook? I've got a few steelbooks that have broken all the way up the side spine area where it bends. I love my steelbooks and just hate for them to crack so easily in the spine area, its either find a cheap fix besides trying to stick them back together with scotch tape or give up collecting them altogether.

This forum began before Blu-ray hit the market. I could have been a member since 2002, I believe, had I not waited.

Still Blu-ray.com It was in an effort to standardize Blu-ray over HD-DVD, which were in development at the same time.

Okay, in 2002 the name of the next formats were already chosen? I'm an early adopter and jumped in the HD-DVD/Blu-ray wagon in 2006.

Apparently. I forget how I stumbled onto the information, perhaps and article, but even back then the nomenclature seems to have been settled. It is not like corporations to sit and wait to name their products and then hope the name is not copyrighted.
