I had a question that seemed relevant to this thread. What is the best online market place to buy and sell sexploitation movies on Blu-ray and DVD?

eBay and Amazon seem to be having a war with “pornography.” Not just hardcore stuff, but since eBay in particular has really cracked down some sellers I know personally have been scared off.

I’ve been buying and selling stuff online since the early 2000s and remember that in the early 2000s it was pretty much anything goes. Then eBay cracked down on the hardcore stuff. At first. Now I’ve even seen listings for tamer titles by labels like Severin and Something Weird Video get removed just for having vintage “adults only” tongue in cheek warnings on Blu-ray/DVD cover art. Heck, Love Scenes got pulled at one point and that’s just an R rated drama.

So now that eBay and Amazon are getting increasingly more restrictive with this stuff, what other online market places can we turn to?

Released over 70 years ago, this film is nearly as old as some of the regulars in this thread!! So it's no surprise that it's incredibly dated in a multitude of ways. And much of the acting leaves a lot to desire....

But that's not why anyone is here, a fella more infamous than Mr. Joe Young cut some of his teeth on this afterall... Ray Harryhausen may not have been given full credit but this was essentially his debut feature as far as I can tell... so of course the stop-motion is among the best to this day. The film isn't content with that as it treats the audience to a number of other elements of spectacle and is firmly in the realm of exploitation.

I didn't love it but the pace is generally fast and I was never bored.. Unlike Son of Kong I recommend this one to most of you!

You could try Etsy. I've noticed people selling movies and comics now. Presumably to avoid higher fees.

I thought about Etsy too. I think some big detractors there are that they are more targeted toward fashion and everything else is secondary and also they charge for every single listing. Unless something changed.

There is also a place called Bonanza. Their first rule is no adult items, but as is always the trouble with that, where do we draw the line? On the plus side Bonanza seems to allow more, but I think it’s an issue of folks lucking out due to Bonanza’s tiny staff and perhaps them being willing momentarily to allow more just because it is such a tiny marketplace. I mean when most people hear Bonanza they think of the old TV show if they think of anything at all.

Bleak Street

This DVD isn't even on the website database! But it's a Kino release for something I doubt will ever get a BD...

Arturo Ripstein came onto my radar years ago when I bought a dvd of The Virgin of Lust... I have no idea why I grabbed it but it was delirious, artistic and it grabbed ahold of me. I don't know how many times I have watched that film now..or what exactly I love so much about it... and yet I had never watched anything else from this director(!)

This time he opted to shoot in black and white (and this seems digital so it must have been an artistic choice) but I can still recognize his use of lighting and framing as everything is off kilter...The previous film used red and green lighting for a wonderful noir-ish effect. And again this is largely a melodrama featuring some very strange characters. Both films give an almost cartoonish vibe...and once again we are placed directly into a strange and seedy world with little care given to exposition or much of a story. The strange drug-noir world of both films is as much a character as anyone and also much of the story itself.

Midget luchadors and old prostitutes, who have trouble finding work, crossdressing old men, and beggars are center stage (sometimes literally) after all. It's a loving film about deviants where not much happens but every moment is filled with drama and some of the angles are intoxicatingly strange. As are the long moving takes.

I didn't intend to essentially write a review for two movies but the world portrayed is staggeringly consistent between them and I can imagine anyone who enjoys one should enjoy the other. We simply see different characters in each... Both are films lost in time, set in a Mexico City that existed in 1950, today and never all at the same time. Films that live somewhere in the soiled netherlands between Fellini, Almodovar, Robbe-Grillet and Bunuel. It's dirty and hopeless; much bleaker than any of those worlds. Yet, a sort of tenderness fills every scene and for whatever reasons this combination is simply enchanting for me... I need to grab more of his films.

Honestly, maybe just a sale thread on this forum?
