well true believers, I'm just a day away from hitting NYC for NYCC 2017! I figured this year, i'll not go too deep into a pictorial/story type of a thing and more of a pictorial/descriptor type of a thing!

so, having said all that, I did make some changes to my outfit and weapon. you do see what happened to my "brothers" hammer in the soon to be released Ragnarok. well, my hammer suffered some my, also got some damage after the last comic con. the handle, thong, broke. it is a cheap plastic model, so........

I had to figure out how to put a new handle/thong onto the hammer. not only did I want a good handle, but, I wanted one that should actually want to swing it, the hammer would just go flying away because the handle is held on by a few threads. so, here is what I did with that.....

I purchased a piece of raw, thin leather, to fashion a new handle/thong. I also had to drill the handle to allow it to be anchored to it

I used a plumbing pvc end cap to cover the anchors and the leather attachment point to the end of the handle. I cut out a slot on the top of the end cap (as seen in the first picture) so that the handle could slide through it before it's mounted.

I used 4 anchors to secure the pvc end cap around the hammer and I used a single one anchor into the bottom of the hammer to hold the thong into it. also, there is a piece of #10awg bare copper going through one end of the thong, that's to help prevent it from pulling out beyond the opening in the end cap.

these are the anchors I used. the hammer handle is thing plastic and not a wide diameter, so, I needed something that would act as a "toggle bolt" yet, use short enough screws that they wouldn't hit apposing screws across from them. these anchors were designed for very thin walls and worked perfectly

with the end cap painted black, the screws in place and the hammer finished it came out perfectly and it's absolutely swingable! I chose to leave the screws with their silver color as I thought it gave it a nice look rather than paint them black. hope they let me in with it given the handle!

I also changed the outfit. last year, I went with a 2 piece outfit black top and black briefs and it was good, but, I had a lot of "shifting issues" where the top would move one way and the briefs the other when I moved. there were issues with belt attachment and the shirt (top) riding up etc.

so I decided to figure out something different, so, this year, I went to a single one piece top/bottom much like a dance might wear. I found a nice glossy faux leather one on ebay and it looks great.

last year I made a nice "power belt" but, wasn't satisfied on how it looked, though it served its purpose. I turned to my artistic side to figure out how to deal with that

here is the process used to make me a new power belt, that looks more like it was made for a God of old.

I got a faux leather 3"wide fashion belt from ebay, yellow, that would be the base for my new power belt. to create it, I got 3 different colors of glossy metallic pearlized paint and a large pored sponge to apply by blotting

I masked off a 3/4" strip on each side leaving a 1-1/2" middle for the treatment. see those 3 holes in the back of the belt, wonder what they are for?

I used multiple layers of paint working from darkest first, letting it dry, to a medium color then a light color. in the end, I used four total layers of sponge blotted paint to get the color and effect I was looking for.

so, I was on ebay and I found the perfect buckle for my power belt, it's an officially licensed buckle from Marvel Comics. I had to take off the loop piece that you see is attached to the tag, that's what would go onto the belt section where your buckle is. however, I couldn't use this buckle quite like that. if you noticed, those holes were on what would be the side of the belt you would see if you were standing behind me.

now, lets get back to the three holes. I drilled three holes in the back part of the belt and that's where the buckle back pieces poke through. I got two cotter pins that on one side, slide down through the two fabricated holes and on the other, fit around the hook piece that would have gone into the holes in a pant belt. all of this is done on the "rear/body" side of the belt

also, notice the two black snaps on the outer side of the buckle mount. those are two of four snaps hot glued onto the rear belt surface that cannot be seen from the front visible side. on my one piece black outfit I have black snaps on it for holding the belt in place so it won't move up or down & side to side.

so, I figure i'll give you a folded up view of the single black body one piece to help show you the snaps installed on it. the snaps hold in place everything associated with the body, all the decorative pieces, the power belt and..........

I also changed out the color of the body disc decorations from last years silver to this years glossy white. check out the items below:

here is the one piece black outfit and you can see the snaps I put onto it. they are all over the front and some are on the back; and some are.......

these are snaps, male and female sections that must be crimped into place and it's not always an easy task. but, if you take time and think about it, you can figure out how to use it to great effectiveness. also, the decorative disc sections have 4 snaps hot glued onto them so that they snap onto the body and stay in place!

how about what this piece is for? I'd be surprised if someone figures it out. you will have to wait until you see pictures of me in the show to determine what they are for. also, in case your wondering, what all those blots are for, that is hot glue holding two pieces of thin plastic together. two thing pliable pieces, cut to shape are bendable and easily formed and easy to work with especially if one needs to, oh say, cover them with something, like........

here is a test fitting of the power belt in place as well as the white disc body decorations. the belt when seen in person, has a 3 dimensional effect in the way it looks. it looks like two shiny yellow gold rings surrounding the middle dark gold encrusted section where the buckle is. the middle section glimmers from light to dark all the way around when the light hits it even where it begins to go into shadow, it's beautiful!
also, the newly done glossy white pieces have real full contrast against the black background and help to show off the belt between the mid and lower disc sections. I think it came out very well, just wait until you see it with the entire outfit on this Friday!

I am pleased to say, I have completed the final touches and updates to my BrOdinson old school Jack Kirby Thor outfit! time to pack it all up! I always have an emergency repair kit with me to include:

hot glue gun w/glue sticks
snap compressor and snaps
tailor scissors

it appears that the weather might cooperate for our great weekend of fun, thanks to yours truly hope I can keep it as rain free as possible!

i'll post pictures when we get into the city tomorrow!

Our hotel was a couple good blocks away putting us in Chinatown. My Daughter and I had dinner at a nice restaurant across the street from our hotel; good times! My friend noted that if my right arm had been a little further back it would have looked like I was holding something.

ok, finally got around to downloading all my show pictures from both my iPhone 6+ & my cannon DSLR with 634mb & 1.08gb respectively.

i'll sort through them, and I have to down size them as most of the iphone pic's are about 2.xxmb and the DSLR pic's are about 6.xxmb respectively. I promise to get going on putting some pic's up today. be patient, I'm the on-call supervisor this weekend and I've had to send folks out to their death multiple times since yesterday, so, give me a minute!
