Mine should be here tomorrow as well. Did a double take when I saw the shipping notification from Amazon as I'd forgotten that the standard version comes out a full month ahead of the limited box edition.

I really hated how loud those crickets were. I do hope they at least minimized that in the final mix for both dubs. Since the ADV side will be missing that insert song now.

And Rei I should still be the song used for the EDs. If it's silent, that makes no sense whatsoever!

For those that have the collectors set; does the EOE manga dub have the OG mix from the DVDs (the cartoony sfx) or is it a remastered one without it?

There were some folks speculating the audio stems for the ADV dub probably no longer existed and there was a glimmer of hope for them that “Fly Me to the Moon” would still be included. That was the point I was reiterating.

Believe it or not, you may not even need the stems to remove background music. That’s how Shout Factory’s WKRP in Cincinnati release happened when they needed so much music changed for licensing reasons and the proper materials weren’t available. IIRC, the same technology allowed Dirty Pair and Gunbusters to finally be dubbed. Audio editing has apparently come a long way over the last decade.

Oh, I believe it! That and the fact Anime Limited/GKIDS don’t want to get sued for using “Fly Me to the Moon”, is why I guarantee the song won’t pop up in the ADV dub for the CE/UE Blu-rays.

I just pray they didn’t get lazy and just mute the whole audio or switch to Japanese (or the Netflix dub). I would absolutely return my set if that happens. How insulting that would be to the fans of the original dub that paid $130 extra just to have it.

…or $275 extra if you bought the Ultimate Edition. Anyway, MediaOCD were involved with the production and I doubt they’d let something like that fly.

No, for Gunbuster they re-created the international soundtrack from scratch. This was done in 2006 for the Gattai movies. The dub was re-done the same year by the same voice actors over the new 5.1 track.

Edit: oh, you're talking about the R1 DVD. It did decrease the sound quality in the said portion (and the rest of the episode, but that is just because they butchered the job). But yes I will agree thst silencing the portion is just a bad take at handling the problem and also silly.

I don't know... The Ultraman Tiga sets in America that just released removed the song, take me higher, from all the episodes yet it snuck into 2 of them by mistake.

I'm also morbidly curious about this Netflix dub, ever since it came out. Once the UE comes in, I will go through first with the ADV, then give the Netflix a try. Likely that will be the first and only time I will ever listen to it

I just checked via the Walmart app and the standard edition is listed for $37.99 and is in stock at my local store. Whether they have actually put out the new releases yet is another matter.

In a damn bubble wrapper but fortunately, the slip arrived unscathed.

^^ Well, I honestly have no idea.
One thing of note; they had a barcode sticker over the slip backside cut-out hole that prevented easy removal of the slip until it was taken off, so if they do that to all their copies, good chance the slips will continue but this is of course, just a guess.
