Not a convention I know, but an opportunity to see and possibly grab a photo and/ or an autograph from a celeb or ten.

From the Desert Sun today...

Brad Pitt, Robert Downey Jr. and Steve Carell will add some superstar punch to the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala.

They are among 11 film luminaries presenting awards to 10 gala award winners Saturday in the Palm Springs Convention Center, festival officials announced.

Morten Tyldum, another Oscar contender as director of the "The Imitation Game," will present the Ensemble Performance Award to his cast in that film. Actors Benedict Cumberbatch, Keira Knightley, Allen Leech, Matthew Beard and Alex Lawther are expected to accept the award.
