The world is in Peril. Evil is threatening to overtake Good. Men, Women and Children are afraid and uneasy as their freedoms and normal ways of life are on the verge of being lost. They are crying out for help, for someone to save them, for someone to protect them and triumph over the evil that would do them harm.

The world needs a hero, to rally the wayward hero's that remain, together, to battle against evil.
The question is, WHO WILL ANSWER......THE CALL?

The New York Comic Convention (NYCC) 2016!

good evening my fellow NYCC 2016 fans. my daughter and I got back late this afternoon from the con and we are whipped. according to our iPhones, we each made an average of 14K+ steps every day at the show and our dogs are barking like a couple of mutha's.

we also each bought 3 statues and we had to carry them back to our air bnb. we even had to carry one of them (each) back during a rather heavy rain while in cosplay!

we walked at least 10 blocks (10 NYC blocks mind you) from the con to get to the train we needed, in the rain, carrying a statue, with no umbrella! we are troopers, we got it done son! F-that rain, we were on a mission and more importantly, we were in character so we had to stand up tall in the rain and deliver and not let folks see us waiver!

same thing today, had to carry all our stuff and our luggage to get to and on the NYC Trains from 150th st down to 34th st to get to Amtrak. that in and of itself was a battle! but we made it and we are home and I'm just getting somewhat comfortable and watched a couple of tv shows I've piled up in the ol' DVR since I was gone.

Mimi, my cat, was alone for 4 nights & 5 days and we've got a lot to chat and catch up on. she truly misses me and she is just meowing all over the damn place!

so, just keep checking back true believers and i'll slowly but surely start posting pictures and chatting about events during my time at NYCC 2016!

it seemed much like any other night, as we headed for the #1 train uptown, destination: The Boogie Down though we would depart before embarking on the divide that was DR's to our airbnb in Spanish Harlem. much like any other night............or so it seemed.

we had a humble stay at our humble abode off of W151 & Broadway in Nueva York. the streets and her people were peaceful and calm; the kind of calm just before the storm!

after yet another day of touring, our hero's took to their buildings rooftop for a photo op for their scrapbooks. they and the city were very peaceful and happy, but, it was early yet!

inside of their shared airbnb, they made nice with the other occupants. they enjoyed some of the musical customs of the Bulgarians where were much like them, enjoying the lavish life, music and food of the city.

speaking of food, even the mightiest of them needed sustenance to nourish their bodies. to keep them energized, strong and ready; ready for, anything! I had a #22, she had a #17, with 7-up and Sprite respectively!

I knew the annual gathering of super powered beings was growing near and I intended to get to that event and find just heroes willing to battle for the cause. I also would battle villains while there as they are also looking for recruits for their foul cause.


Lo, Allfather Odin, did'est send down my battle gear as I must prepare to represent the house of Odin. the modifications that were made to mine garb since the last time I did don it, are greatly appreciated especially the extra space in the nether regions.

and so, I and I alone am worthy to possess mine mallet, Mjolnir. I give my thanks and praise to Odin as I prepare to once again represent Asgard before the 9 realms.

with Mjolnir in hand I am now ready to go. I turn to my event companion and ask if she is ready to head out to this, great hall of the gathering known as The Javits Convention Center which hosts NYCC 2016.

of these Guardians of the Galaxy, takes on the form of one of her many iterations. she is ready as is her battle blade, strength and warriors experience for whatever may be waiting for us. she is hungry for battle and some tasty wings too!

The morning air in the city was brisk with a gentle breeze, it was perfect for flight.


I did look out across the rooftops of Spanish Harlem, I could see many flying things, people out on the rooftops with yon pigeons and many articles of clothing hanging from, ropes of some sort being pulled and pushed from windows and rooftops!

the heavens parted to allow yon light from the sun to shine down on the Prince of Asgard while here on Midgard. the enjoyment of the time would come to a quick hault! there would be a loud booming sound to break the calm!

I turned to find smoke billowing up from what would turn out to be the Javits Convention Center.

I did'est pray to the heavens for guidance, but, the heavens were silent to me.

I dared to rage against the silence. I called to Gamora, my companion that it would be time for us to fly down to the problem that had begun downtown in midtown.

I began to swing Mjolnir to build up speed to prepare for flight. there was no time to waste, Gamora and I must take out leave of this airbnb place!

in the final throws of my preflight spin, I realized my companion yelling something to me, something of grave importance.

she did'est tell me that the midtown area of Manhattan had been made a "No Fly Zone" by then Mayor Giuliani. I did'est thank him with some choice colorful Asgardian metaphors!

and so, Thor, BrOdinson, relegated to the subway for transportation. thanks to track work, we couldn't even go express, damn local service. there would be no rainbow over this bridge! Hela be cursed and as the mortals say, WTF?!?

my Daughter and I ate at that Mac & Cheese truck everyday. we really needed the carbs with all the walking we did. we were like a couple of college kids as Mac & Cheese probably saved our lives and got us through the convention each day! Damn was it good. of course, the line each day was 20-30 minutes to get food with so many hungry energy depleted folks at NYCC with us!

interesting trivia, in 2013 NYCC tied attendance with the maximum capacity of SDCC with 130,000 attendees. NYCC continued to grow in attendance each year. in 2014, NYCC attendance hit 151,000 making it the largest Comic Book Convention in Northern America!

to put that in perspective, the first NYCC in 2006, the attendance was 33,000. last years NYCC attendance was 170,000 that's some serious growth in a 10 year span!

while the final numbers are not out yet, it is already anticipated that NYCC 2016 surpassed even last years insane attendance numbers! that's a lot of Mac & Cheese!

there were tons and tons of collectables at the show, of course! all different sizes, all different prices too. some were $5 and some were as much as $700

I in no way captured all of them, there were so many, so, so, many that I could only post a few as I only took a certain number of pictures of them too. I did ask in the last few posts of my NYCC 2015 thread if anyone wanted pictures of something in particular. no one was game so I just took a variety of collectables that I like that really caught my eye.

as I mentioned early on in the thread, I purchased some statues while at the show. I picked up 3 in the Thor line.

I really lucked up and found these 3 beautiful pieces at the show.

straight from that famous cover of The Silver Surfer #4, it's one half of the Thor vs The Silver Surfer up in Asgard! they dared battle on the Bifrost (The Rainbow Bridge) on the cover. the Thor is a Clayburn Moore Statue and it's #289 of 3,000 at some point, I will find the Silver Surfer from that cover and i'll put them together! I also picked up that lovely Jane Foster Thor statue. it's a very nice size statue too. I picked it up at the same place I picked up the next piece.

I was lucky enough to pick up what was my first and hopefully not my last Randy Bowen Statue! the Bowen is #1,651 of 3,000 this thing is a monster in size and it's beautiful too! I had to place it with my other Old School Jack Kirby Thor done by Corgi to the far right and is #420 of 2,500. the newer Chain Mail modern day Thor is the one to the far left!

so, here everyone is, in my 2 channel room, they all sit on my pair of Vintage Polk Audio SDA-2 speakers. Those monsters are big enough to hold my other monsters! notice Mjolnir hanging over my small 32" HDTV", hey, it's a 2 channel setup in a small/small'ish area, it's plenty big!
