Best profesional 1080p camera

Aygie, I don't think anyone on here who recommends Red have even seen one and I don't think they're experienced in production. For a lot of them, it's all about the technical specs on paper. You are right, the Red is a totally different market. I think of it as a digital cinema replacement for the Super 16 or something. The EX1, EX3, HVX200 is professional digital HD video. It will also do Digital Cinema with the 24p, but it's aimed at video production markets. I think they're going to be a lot more flexible.
The people who drop the link to the Red One website everytime someone wants info on CAMCORDERS, are the same people who recommend a Nikon D2X DSLR when someone asks people to recommend a nice simple snapshot camera. I am amazed nobody has recommended a Panavision Genesis!

I agree totally, we have very similar opinions chevy. (Apart from the P2 being inefficient, i love the P2 workflow! )

Though I do admit, I haven't ever used the P2 workflow - 100Mb/s scares me! But I have heard from people who use it, they also love it! So I can't disagree with it being good. The last guy I spoke with who uses an HVX loves recording in 720p - i wasn't totally with him on that, but he loves working with 720. I get my Macbook Pro soon, getting the full Adobe CS3 for it.... can't wait! Maybe external BD Drive to go with it. I'm hoping to get Final Cut Studio also, (when it supports Blu Ray).

It sounds strange but i i know what that guys means. I use 720p a lot. The reason being is that you get the variable frame rate options in FCP using the frame rate converter or you can just film directly in 720p native and record slow mo /sped up frames there and then. Beautiful!

1080i is so much sharper though, i've read somewhere on doom9 that the HVX is actually 1080p but it tells the camera its only 1080i. I'll try and find the comments.

FCP and blu, man i cannot wait until this happens, i've been trying to use toast 9 to get footage onto DVD/Blu but its such a buggy program at the moment its not worth it.

I dont own an professional camcorder but the consumer one.

alot of professional camcorders are 1440x1080 HD.

I owned the Panasonic's world smallest camcorder (model: HDC-HS9) that can record videos up to 1920x1080p Full HD but i have hard time using 24p mode/slow shutter. So i use the 1080i instead which is faster motion and then use a program NeroVision from Ahead Nero 8 to convert 1080i to 1080p... thats all it takes. It looks very beautiful in the day, it has an Hard Drive built in that it can play video raw with an USB connection to the PS3.

the only small problem i have with this camcorder that it aint all that during the dark but best in the daylight.. so i will find something it needed for night mode and special speed for 1080 in 24p mode. but it is a great camcorder tho cause of 1080i looks very sharp and smooth

I had to look it up and it is not a consumer type camcorder.. it is really professional and i guess i think it is the best because in the specification i read it says... it does 1080/60p scanning but the maxium is 1080/60i, So i guess that means that when recording in 1080/24p, it use a better shutter speed to make it look like 1080/60p.

That is something my camcorder dont have, it has 1080/24p but no 1080/60p support. I might willing to look forward to this or i can wait and see whats Panasonic got something else new hitting the market real soon.

Great cam man, I cant afford $5,000 camcorder right now.

HDV is 1080x1440 (stretched pixels) and current XDCAM HD is the same (MPEG 2 based), HDV will never change, but XDCAM HD will change. XDCAM HD 4:2:2 50mbs is 1080x1920, and XDCAM EX has the full 1080x1920
