video on PS3 hard disk versus external hard disk or flash drive

OK, when I scroll through videos stored on a USB Flash Drive, it just shows the names and such of the files. When I copy those vids onto the PS3 hard drive, it shows a dynamic preview as you scroll through them. My questions are:

1. Is there any way to enable this dynamic preview of vids for USB Flash Drives? If I got a faster one would it enable it?

2. If I hooked up an external hard drive, would the dynamic preview of vids work for that?

I understand, from my Experience, the Dynamic Previews are available only on the Hard-drive, because they basically take up a little space on the drive to know what parts to use, so I don't think it's possible to have them on USB or Memory Cards, I don't believe you'd see them on the External Drive if you were to Hook it up, It's why i Suggest Good Descriptive Names, and Uniform ones too.
