They have absolutely been DNR'ed. Belongs in the same category for sure.
Couldn't agree more. HDR and unconditional love saved Middle Earth.

How about we stop making stupid, idiotic lists about DNR and other things. The more we piss and moan, is one step closer to physical media being phased out and becomes obsolete.

No.

In all honesty, studios couldn’t give two shits about our complaints like this. For every one of us complaining about DNR, there’s probably 5 people with no idea what they’re talking about complaining about grain and wanting the image to be as smooth as possible

Unfortunately average people like UHD BD's like the OT Star Wars UHD BD's. All the friends that came to see how Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi look in 4K think they look terrific.

I'm feeling light on this one. Are there some shots noticeably worse than others?

It's worse than Civil War, by far.

Default Lord of the Rings

Lord of the Rings should definitely be under DNR from hell.

No. I would go with light for FOTR and ROTK while TTT would get moderate.

If you think any of the LotR films look as bad as Terminator 2, you need to get your eyes checked

Does TTT have a visible grain structure at least?

It does, but there are some noticeable borderline wax fests. The scenes that stick out to me the worst are the ones that take place in Rohan and on the journey to Helm's Deep.
