If you look at my user name, I think you'll find I don't need to import.

Watched the 4K HDR steam on my ATV, and it looks great in my opinion. It has that “shot on film” look that works so well with 4K. The disc should be a winner; every great 4K stream i’ve seen always looks a notch better on disc, at the very least. Hopefully this gets a US release.

That and Little Women. I don't see the point in them issuing these anniversary editions to just one source.

That’s good to hear. I rewatched the Criterion disc recently and still held up decently on my TV but seeing more Kovacs in native 4K is gonna be amazing.

Let the importing begin!

USA releases have sucked this year.

I don't touch Criterions unless they are in my top 10/20. I wait it out. I'm stubborn. So happy I didn't get the Criterion, not because they don't rrelease good versions. Just that they could release 4k'UHDs and they're stubborn too. Easy Rider in HDR is a no-brainer, and that's something Criterion will never have HDR or REAL 4K.

USA Does suck. Still waiting for Shutter Island, Angel Heart, and now Easy Ryder.
I'll probably have to import them once they officially make movies digital only in 10 years.
I definitely will get the original Dawn of the Dead in 4K from the UK in February right away because of distributing issues.

What movies doesn't the UK have that the USA has or do they have them all so far?

Wonder if this will have the original LPCM audio or whether that was a Criterion exclusive?

Dunno about it being encoded in PCM but Sony have been VERY good at providing OG audio tracks on their UHDs of late. Karate Kid, Glory, Stand by Me etc.

It's nice that the UK is getting physical, but this is starting to feel like the 3D phase out.
It's not though. Sony just announced there will be a 4K optical drive in the new Playstation console coming out next year. If Sony were dumping 4K, they wouldn't put a 4K optical drive in it. I think that it's more likely what Scottish said.

I'll be happy so long as they provide it in a decent bitrate and such. Sony does love to spoil us. Criterion's original mono tracks tend to be very denoised, which doesn't bother me most of the time but sometimes they sound a bit inferior in side by side comparisons with noisier but less processed alternatives. Not sure what their Easy Rider track sounds like.

Sony's tracks are usually lossless DTS-HD MA in this current era of them providing OG audio, though how the underlying source master has been treated is another matter.

Well, I got mine included with Last Picture Show which is excellent on the Criterion Blu-ray (but avoid the censored Criterion laserdisc!).

LPCM Mono? Interesting question. Somehow I bet it's gone.

How do you know? Is there any examples of B/W on 4K, Logan? I heard that blacks look better but beyond that most of the praise came from the detail, not the color. I would love Strangelove on UHD 4K but I just don't see it being a priority especially with the Criterion 4K master only being a few years old with a fantastic picture itself.

...since you are able to predict the future can you tell us what 4K titles we can look forward to, on physical media of course, in 2020?
