OOP, according to ShoutFactory.com.

Still in stock at Amazon. Get it while you can.

Maybe Kino or someone will license The Rage: Carrie II and do new bonus features, but I'm not holding my breath. The film is very underrated, and one of my favorite teen films of the 90s.

Thanks. I swooped in and ordered this from Amazon, mostly because I like the 2002 version.

Thanks for the heads-up; got in under the wire (barely)!

I also have a soft spot for "The Rage," an earnest and affecting TTH* (Telekinetic Teen Horror)...even if it doesn't hold a candle to De Palma in the stylization department (not that they were pretending to that throne). *My collection: Shout's Carrie '76 re-master, The Rage and the included made for television Carrie '02 remake (ordered), Cinema Cult's Region A compatible edition of De Palma's The Fury--same master as Arrow's--and the '13 Carrie redo... Did I miss something?

The recent UK Blu-ray by 88 Films has a new audio commentary by Kat Shea and DoP Donald Morgan. But it might be region B locked.

Shout lists that on their disc, too, for those who manage to scrounge a copy.

Fortunately, 88 came to the rescue. With as much as I love this film, it's funny that I ignored it in theaters because I was sure it would be terrible (same exact scenario with Idle Hands released about a month later). Happy to be proven wrong, as it's now a personal favorite. Plus, any film featuring a basset hound gets major bonus points in my book.

Is this release any different then the single Shout Factory release of Carrie?

Fresh master? I guess it'd have to be; doesn't sound like MGM/Shout could gussy up the older transfer to look so good.

Looking forward to giving it a look.

Yes, this set includes the 2002, made for television version of Carrie (supposedly intended as a potential series pilot), and The Rage: Carrie 2 (1999 theatrical sequel to De Palma's classic from '76*).

*The version on Shout's standalone disk.

Where does 88 Films come down on region locking? Their Hollow Man set is reported as region-free...and while there's no feedback about The Rage on this site, most sources are reporting it's locked to B.

From a collection standpoint, I wouldn't mind picking up a dedicated edition of Carrie II sometime and 88 looks to have the nicest package out there...even if Shout's disc is pretty much its clone (from what I've read).

88 Films titles licensed from larger studios such as MGM, Universal, and Paramount are locked to B due to contractual stipulations. Sony's UK branch doesn't really enforce British labels to region lock, with the exception of a few titles Sony owns UK rights to but are with another company in the US or elsewhere.

Dammit. I'm afraid I might not be able to get it and the 2002 adaptation it's my favorite one!

I"m surprised to see the supply chain on this dry up so quickly after going OOP; I can only find a few listings from third party sellers for around forty-five bucks now, so I guess it comes down to how badly you want one.

What with these two films being on separate discs, it will be interesting to see whether Shout explores a dedicated release of one of the other...but I guess that'll depend on licenses and whether it's worth their while financially.
