Default Fear begins to grow within the FUDders themselves

Not sure if many of you surf the HD-DUD forums (I do it for entertainment), but this thread certainly shows their mentality changing... Maybe they started reading "HDM for Dummies"... who knows...

In reading the thread I don's see fear? I see talk of money and talk that if the red team looses oh well. But I don't see where there is fear. They are still talking about the red team still being in this and they are waiting like the rest of us until the new year. As many have said on this site. A decision "might" be made come January at the CES show.

We on the blu team need to keep doing what we are doing, buying movies and supporting our format.

Old video game conventions dictate that player 1 is blue and player two is red. Maybe none of them ever played contra.

I like how the typical DUD-er denial and "logic" kicks in.

Somehow Warner is relegated to a status of just not being that important and as long as we wish upon a star and think good thoughts, HD-DVD will do just fine even if Warner goes all Blu.

It's pitiful enough I can't even laugh at it.

...

Y'all didn't buy that, did ya?

Aside from "WB is definitely supporting red, going red" which is also a prevalent theme at HighDefDigest...nothing new really. The red side is utterly convinced that WB will be 100% red, aside from a few heads who who are trying desperately to think.

This isn't a direct on you, but this attitude in posts around here (especially the "DUD" usage) really makes me sad to be part of this community sometimes.

The post itself isn't bad, but the comments... "HD-DUD" and "HDM for Dummies".

Why not just debate on the merits of Blu-Ray rather than ad hominem attacks?

My apologies for throwing this out in your thread, but I've read about 5 posts like this in the past 20 minutes and it makes me want to poke my eyes out.

Yea, even better last time I checked the poll there some voted Disney and Fox was going Red exclusive or neutral! Somebody spiked the red kool-aid!

No, I didn't. But I really hope Warner pulls the plug on HD DVD at CES. Unfortunately, those who have invested quite a bit of dough in HD DVD will be left with unsupported hardware and software rather quickly.

My prediction: If Warner goes Blu-ray exclusive next year, Toshiba will come to the table and begin producing Blu-ray compatible players by the end of 2008. Yep, that quick. They will find themselves in the same predicament Sony held in the early 1980s when they folded the tent on the Beta format and started producing VHS players. Then the brick and mortar retailers begin to pull the plug to make room for blu-ray. I've seen it all before. I owned and operated two video stores in the Phoenix area while attending college way back when MTV still played music.

Microsoft has deep pockets, but not enough to convince Warner to kill a potential cash cow for the next ten years. Their library is too extensive. The only option that gives high definition media a chance to succeed is if they go with Blu-ray. Fox, MGM, Disney and of course Sony are simply too entrenched and the electronics manufacturers are lined up behind Blu-ray as well. Paramount had to be paid off and Universal will ***** itself faster than a street walker. Choosing HD DVD prolongs the agony. The studios would be evenly split, consumers would remain indifferent and retailers would grow weary of stocking under-performing software. You don't have to be a psychic to see how Warner must be leaning. They can end this war by summer 2008 and get on with the business of promoting high definition Blu-ray discs to a much more receptive public. This is why I refuse to buy any HD DVD media ...and I own a Toshiba HD A1.

I think mystiksuicide says it best:
Quote:
Here is my take on the whole situation. Warner and the rest of the studios know that there will be no mass adaptation of the next generation dvd player while 2 formats exist.

If Warner where to go hd dvd exclusive that would pretty much dived the studios 50/50. Advantage no one

If Warner where to stay neutral that would leave the status quo as it stands until at least Jan 2009 with blu increasing it's lead but not enough for mass adaptation. Advantage blu ever so slightly

If Warner where to go blu that would give the BDA over 70% of the market and the remaining non blu studios will have to take a hard look at the format war. Universal would either go neutral or blu in 2008. Many have speculated about Paramount contract having an "out clause" should the numbers fall to a percentage but as it stands Jan 2009. Advantage the consumer

At some point even Universal will have some of its executives wake up, think "what the hell are we doing" and get Universal up off of its corporate knees and walk away from servicing Toshiba and Microsoft. Unfortunately for them, Universal's reputation will be in tatters.

I have to agree with you. Certainly more reasoned and logical responses without name calling is what harms that camp more than anything. I go to avsforums everyday, and they had to shut the board down from both sides crossing the line. Blu is the more superior format, and sinking to insults does nothing.

Agreed, they live in a land of make believe where if they wish and throw fairy dust at Warner's financial records will suddenly change and they'll favor HD-DVD.
