2020 was so so with catalog titles, it was good to end of March when Star Wars all came out on 4K. A lot of catalog content wasn’t offered to make up fit the lack of new releases for sure week after week. The only 4K highlights after StarWars was 4K Spartacus in July, 4K Back to the Future in October, and on the last day of the year 4K LOTR/ 4K Hobbit. We can be thankful for those but week after week, it was boring. Even this last BF I bought a few on sale, but many I already owned, it was like a repeat of 2019 titles on sale.

BTW you mistakenly have unreleased 4K of Good, Bad and Ugly Trilogy claimed in you collection.

Pretty much just tell it like it is. Not very time consuming all things considered.

Now, how much time does it take to explain the benefits of higher bit rates to some of our friends .... that's about infinite and still never works.

No, I’m serious. What is your point? No one is arguing that ownership isn’t in decline. What I’m arguing about is the crap that people are spouting this year when we knew what year it was going to be.

The last decade has not been kind with speakers, AVRs, media. I seen the stores carry lower quality in recent years as prices increased. You can’t expect the same quality in a store these days as decade ago, except in only one category........4K TVs compared earlier pricy HD TVs.

Agreed, some here will always try to use a deflection tactic by pointing away from the features of disc that enthusiast enjoys, namely it is the best quality available and covered by the TFSD in the US.

In the days of the disc wars you would not believe the number of post at AVS where posters proclaimed “received a BD by mail today, put the disc in the player and would not play. Ejected and saw a small crack on the edge”. Many would even include a picture. A MS person had convinced them the BD hard coat made the disc more brittle. I waited quite sometime before I posted they were liars. Disc read from the inside to the outside therefore a small crack would not stop disc play. Then I posted the below just to show how ridiculous it was to believe the hard coat would make the entire disc more brittle. That thread dried up not long afterward.

You are ignoring 4Ks of The Mask of Zorro, Beetlejuice, The Goonies, Total Recall, The Hitchcock 4K Collection as well as Criterions such as Ghost Dog and The Irishman.

I add titles as soon as I pre-order.

edit: even 300 , Blade, Boyz n Da Hood and District 9 (which i got digitally)

While I did not care all that much for WW84 there was some neat graphics for it. Used one to create a background for my MX-980 HBO Max remote button. These buttons are direct call for the respective apps on the Roku Ultra and Shield Pro.

I think I'll pick up WW84 if it goes under $20 on UHD.

The beginning is good and the middle isn't bad.

Gal Gadot is fully adorable and that helps.

Lynda Carter was not bad either. Have her as a background for the Tascam BD-MP4K (work in progress).

Target had a 20% off sale on movies over the weekend and I had some rewards poinst and got an extra $1 knocked off the order, so got three 4K titles for about $25 shipped with sales tax.

Law Abiding Citizen
Hell or High Water
Scarface

I just watched Hell or High Water and the 4K presentation was awesome.

I also ordered Mortal Instruments for $9.99 yesterday via Amazon.

Exciting news for those worried that Disney would abandon physical, especially concerning Fox releases:

Quote:
Speaking of Disney, here’s a complete surprise: The studio appears to be preparing for the 4K Ultra HD release of two additional 20th Century Fox catalog titles in May: Heat and Speed. Both are currently set for release in Germany on 5/27 via the online retailer Jpc.de (click here and here to see that). We don’t yet have official confirmation of a US release by Disney, nor do we have an expected street date, but two of our own industry and retail sources have now confirmed that they are coming to 4K in the US likely in May as well.

Right now I would settle for True Lies and The Abyss on BD. Doubt it will happen but both those titles would be great candidates for a new immersive audio mix.

* I should have said that Target knocked off $1 extra for slow shipping in addition to the reward points I had. This is the first time that Target has ever given me the slow shipping discount option.
