House of the Dragon UHD BD on the way !

That's great. I don't know if I have HBO Max or not but now I don't even have to figure it out. Even a Game of Thrones spin off is too good to watch via steaming.

He tries to present himself as a technical person but I believe he does not know the difference between a NOR and a AND gate. I presented him with a simple logic truth table and asked what logic would be needed to satisfy the table and he never responded.

Myself, never liked Boolean algebra but it was part of course study. By 1971 we had quite a bit of digital in the production center. The Ampex AVR-1 was an analog A/V machine but most of the control of that machine was digital, even the time code display was digital using a nixie display. My Heathkit AJ-1500 FM Tuner (1972) control was all logic, it was quite a device in its day.

I just upgraded my internet plan to 1Gbps with a 6TB monthly data cap. My ISP gave me the choice of sticking with my existing plan (500Mbps, 2TB data cap) for an increase of $18 per month or this new plan for an increase of $10 per month.

Another year, another promo offer.
IIRC you purchased your own DOCSIS 3.1 modem, will that one continue to be used?

My street to residence cable had to be replace a few weeks ago and the tech told me my DOCSIS 3.0 modem will need to be replace soon by a DOCSIS 3.1 modem.

He would not even respond when you asked him what his TV settings were other than to say that Best Buy "set it up." He won't answer direct questions.

I only use my own equipment. Renting equipment from an ISP is a complete waste of money.

My modem is the Netgear CM-2000 and it is DOCSIS 3.1. It supports speeds up to 2.5 Gbps.

I hope that Amazon does the same with Rings Of Power, but I am not very confident that they will.

if it is good and popular it will. we can sometimes get pigeonholed and play the role assigned to us as we get locked into arguments, but companies, rightfully, just care about $ and if it makes sense, they will do it.

I would love to be wrong, believe me, but I have a feeling that Amazon will keep this show as an original exclusive to promote their streaming service until well after the entire series concludes... if they ever release it to physical media at all.

I agree. The previous ISP owner here did not charge a lease fee for the modem, so far the new owner, Optimum, has not changed and is not supposed to unless the sub makes a change.

My HBO Max 1 year promotion has expired and have decided not to renew with the new 40% off 1 year. Only had Dragon and Bugs Bunny in my watch list. So will finish Dragon once available with Netflix disc by mail.

Undecided if Dragon or 1883 will get added to the disc library.

The only reason that I have HBO Maximillian is that it comes included with my cell phone service. I very seldom actually use it.

.

Got 1 year of ATV+ via cell provider which had some really good nature stuff but once that was viewed have used very little since. Just signed up for 1 year of Paramount+ with ads courtesy of cell provider. Started the first episode CSI: New York, out of the gate 90 seconds of commercials, then just a few minutes in another 90 seconds of commercials. Dumped out and watched other CBS recordings from years earlier, with commercials edited out.

Only a 100% discount is large enough to get me to watch anything that is ad supported and even then I will rarely agree to it.

Ads suck. I think that the late comedian Bill Hicks put it best when he said something to the effect of: watching advertisements is like finding a turd in your drink.

There are rare occasions where finding a turd in your drink is acceptable?

If you stopped watching Linear TV and subscribe to SVODs, then watching ads can be trying. But I refuse to pay for rental or ownership of anything digital so though I have Prime Video, I do watch their FreeVee AVOD simply because I want to see content that is only available on it.

I think the key word here is "like", Mr. Literal, and it was Bill Hick's analogy, not mine. This is not something that I plan to debate with you for days on end, but you go right ahead.

Sometimes watching something with ads might be the only way to see it, so it's either do without or hold your nose and bottom's up.

Watching one of the thousands of movies that are available without ads is always a better alternative. I'm sure we could debate that for days on end.

I would have never guessed. I am fascinated though this rule start before CD or after HD DVD? Or, are you using "Digital" while not counting any of the physical media with purely digital contents?

On the topic of Rings of Power going to disc, I would have to imagine that the sales of The Boys is part of the decision to release more Prime exclusives.

I can't stand ads and do my best to avoid them.

If you have Prime, you already have seen most of what Freevee offer. It’s just old prime stuff with ads.

It's pretty obvious he isn't counting physical media as "digital". Do you have a better term for streaming and downloads? I agree that "digital" is a terrible term but I don't think anyone has come up with a better one.

I have never rented content nor purchased one that we would call a digital transaction. Never. No movies, TV shows or songs - nothing. I have always rented or purchased physical media be it LP records, 8 Track Tapes, CDs, VHS, LD, HD DVD and BD.

Which is nice to revisit when I am looking for something "comfortable" to watch. Currently watching the TV Show The Libarians.
