I don't understand these season 4 screen grabs. If everyone is hemming and hawing about the OAR why are all these grabs comparing to the wider ratio? To compare this remaster to the opened 16:9 doesn't seem fair since that too was not the intended ratio.

Can we do a series of these same grabs with the 4:3 instead of 16:9?

These all look to be pushing a specific narrative.

How's this for a narrative?

Whatever way you look at these, they're pretty awful. Either the people responsible are hindered in some way or they're just not very good at their jobs.

You can use your imagination ...

If they get Whedon or someone else capable to adjust the 16:9 image to hide gaffes and re-frame it for proper composition like they did with The Wire then I would support it. I prefer OAR obviously, but that is an acceptable middle-ground. This master on a BD though? No way, I would stick to DVD.

I guess I was just curious why they didn't do it to begin with. As stated ad nauseam on this board, everyone wants the OAR so why spend all this time collecting screen grabs for comparison to anything other than the OAR?

Makes no sense.

I'm not desperate for the OAR. I am in the UK so I have been watching (most of) them in 16:9 since the initial broadcast. I prefer it that way tbh.

Not interested in this carp though!

My hope is that they do Angel, and that they do it properly.

Well you are wrong. The person posting them is a proponent of re-framing for 16x9. Although I am pretty sure they hate this remastering job.

The cheese man, you mean? They cropped him out of the frame, so he only shows up after the First Slayer is done talking.
