If Disney doesn’t have plans to release the series on blu ray it’s no big deal to me. I’m satisfied with the 2017 dvd box set when it was under the control of Fox.

As much as I would love to have Buffy in a beautiful, cinematic widescreen format, I would be fine with it staying 4:3, I just want it in HD god dammit.

Before buffy and angel get a blu ray they’d need a proper remaster all of Buffy being done in 4:3 and angel being in 4:3 until the first real seasons that were done in 16:9. because the one season they released in 16:9 shouldn’t have been because it showed stuff that was never meant to be seen.

Dead careers? Every one of them minus maybe Nicolas Brenden have been work steady since the show ended.

There has to be something else at play here behind the scenes as to why there's not been a remaster. It just doesn't make sense how an iconic show, with a massive following, is being ignored.

I honestly can't see a 4k release, but a blu ray release, done right, would be downright awesome. I haven't watched the show in a few years, it's due for another rotation methinks.

Why doesn’t Buffy and angel deserve a 4k release but a teen soap like dawson’s creek does?

Dawson's Creek is distributed by Sony, Disney now owns Buffy and Angel, sadly. I doubt Disney gives a crap.

Any Sony unlike Fox/Disney did an awesome job remastering Dawson's Creek. Dawson's was also shot with 16mm cameras like the first few seasons of Buffy. But unlike the Buffy remaster where the remastering scrubbed away all the 16mm film grain and all details with it, Dawson's looks absolutely great in all it's grainy glory and details intact. Add to that Sony also gave it a good HDR-Grade and the show was a lot of fun to revisit on Netflix recently unlike Buffy, which I can't make it through even one episode of the remaster. BTW Sony didn't just remaster Dawsons's Creek. They also remastered the 90s show "Party of Five" to 4K with HDR. I haven't seen that one yet, but bet it looks awesome as well. They also redid "Community" in 4K with HDR.
You can read a bit about Sonys efforts in this article from last year.

It’s what baffles me if these company’s can do it for lesser know properties than buffy then surely Disney could scrap up a few dolllars to redo the sfx. I know buffy Is a tougher remaster job but cmon it’s not ridiculously hard with all the billions and billions Disney is pulling in

I completely disagree if the studio decides to put Buffy out on blu-ray they will but you need to remember that the studio will only put it out if they feel that it will generate them a lot of sales. Also the studio will also have to consider the cost of manufacturing it onto blu ray because if it will cost too much they won’t do It plus everyone who plays on the show including who did the music need to all agree to do It. But cost is the biggest obstacle I see here.

It’s not even that I’d just rather have a better version of the show for streaming services for people that will pick it up in the years to come it’s shit knowing they can get better quality done but haven’t done so

At this point I am happy with my DVD sets. I did have to recently ebay a replacement disc for Buffy Season Two because it stopped playing. There was some funky white clouding on it.

Why does a teen soap get the red carpet treatment but Buffy gets treatment like garbage and don’t say joss whedon this could have been done a long time ago and it was way before the whedon incident.

Off course it has nothing to do with Joss Whedon or one teen show vs. another. Sony has a completely different strategy when it comes to remastering their content to 4K. Just look at how many of their movies they have remastered since 4K became a thing, compared to what Disney/Fox have done. And that's also true for their TV content. Sony has a good reason to create as much 4K content as they can. They want to sell their TVs and other tech. Disney/Fox don't have a tech arm, so they are not driven by that unfortunately. The only hope is, that with Disney+ needing new content all the time, that they also will remaster/create more 4K content out of their properties.

I hope so and it’s done in 4:3 same goes for angel with season 2 in 4:3 instead of 16:9.

Still shocked this hasn't been remastered for Blu-ray.

Disney better not drop the ball on a remastered release.
