I wonder if the foreign releases are any different, but I haven't read anything that says so.

Maybe I should buy Ad Astra 4K disc instead for the same price?
So you get the 4K, the Blu-ray and the extended option on the Blu-ray? I change my opinion, 4K.

Fine. I'll buy Doctor Sleep 4K disc, but I won't rest easy about it.

Agreed....but the ending of Ad Astra bothered me more than how they handled this release though.

Hard to compare the two. Different genres.

True as far as genres go, but their execution are on different levels. The third act in Ad Astra was pretty frustrating. Dr Sleep on the other hand nailed it. Better on many levels, regardless of different genres.

I don't get it, what if you don't like the film? Why not rent it first? Then add it to the collection if you like it.

Yeah, Doctor Sleep was very enjoyable for the most part. I might do a double bill with The Shining this Halloween. Rebecca Ferguson stole the show for me.

I haven't seen Doctor Sleep but Ad Astra was much ado about nothing, in one ear and out the other. Thankfully it only cost me £1.99, rental.

I seem to be a excellent judge of film. I normally follow a film from pre production to the final non spoiler review. I would say I have 90% success rate. For the ones I don’t like, I give to family or friends.

I haven’t been to the theater in close to 9 years and blind buy about 70% of what I decide to plunk down my hard earned money on. The other 30% would be movies I liked as a disc rental. As a result of this conversation, I went through my collection and came up with a dozen that will never see my player again...kinda like Vilya’s gamble on Mayhem. I can certainly live with that as the upside is far greater to me.

Film is my life and has been since I was a kid. It’s no gamble at all. I don’t drink or smoke. Lost count of how many people go for a night out, spend £70-£80 dollars on drink etc and can’t remember the night. Now THAT is wasting money.

When posting, try to make sure you distinguish between a statement and opinion. That is the reason you will see in some of my post: IMHO, in my humble opinion or IMO, in my opinion. A few more acronyms that I use: DIY, FAQ, BTW, IIRC. Been using these since the days of private BBS’s and CompuServe.

And I know you don't care about his opinion but it makes me wonder, do you listen to any reviewers?
Very select few, been this way since the early days of LaserDisc. I very rarely blind buy. Have always rented titles of interest to see if they were worth a purchase. In the US Netflix made disc rental very easy by using the postal system. My long term average is about $2 per title, a rarity, the best quality for cheap.

45 today! Family can’t come to see me, no football match because it is cancelled, I hate this awful virus. Missing meeting up with the family. At least I will see them, they dropping gifts off at my door and singing happy birthday from a distance!

Happy birthday, Steedeel. Strange times indeed for sure.
Let's hope everything gets better soon.

Do you really blind buy everything ? What about movies you're only mildly interested in ? That would be really expensive.

Happy Birthday Steedeel! Hopefully you have saved something special to watch today. Maybe your family and you can celebrate your day once we get back to “Normal.”
