Vilya,

Heads up the commuter is not something you should see.

I picked it up used and it’s ok but the train action is harsh.

Thank you for the warning, but cinematic depictions pale in comparison to the real thing partly because they are often so over the top.

What is your take regarding no new announcements about a new Apple TV 4K? Some believe Apple will not put any more effort into hardware and instead focus on getting their app onto other platforms.

Some members at AVS have posted they have not been able to get Apple employees to respond about the lack of integer frame rates via Apple TV hardware and the problem persist with the latest firmware.

For reference, I totaled the price paid for my Blu-ray and UHD Blu-ray titles and divided by the number of titles. The rounded price was $17.08.

This is a fair amount less than face value of what I paid for LaserDisc and if adjusted for inflation would be a lot less.

At one time I had about 80 titles on D-VHS D-Theater. The best price for them was $37.95 each (about $54 in 2020 dollars).

Not working for me. Updated to 14.0.1 and even deleted and re-downloaded the YouTube app, but nope. Still 1080p.

Doesn’t work for me too. Not THAT big of a deal because I also have Nvidia Shield Pro.

Does YouTube have good 4K videos?

If it works on my ATV4K, I’ll watch some of the tv demos.

Obviously. But you are missing the forest for the trees. In order for a disk to be profitable it needs to be bought (and no one here is ever talking babout stealing disks so I don't know why that needs to be said) but in order for that disk to be bought a disk needs to be released. The problem is

1) you seem to believe a disk can be none profitable (even if released)
2) profits on an individual media matters.

what I mean by 1 & 2 is easy

let's start with 1 this is a bit old but the reality is still the same

https://www.cdrinfo.com/d7/content/w...-cut-price-dvd

it was profitable (why Warner did it) to sell films at 1.50$ (and even then the plan did not work since pirated films where much cheaper). When you spend a bit over 20$ on a physical film you are not spending it because the disk is made out of gold with a worker making 500$ an hour but because there is a cheap piece of plastic that costs pennies to do and 20$ worth of content on it.

A disk sold at any cost will always be profitable but but how much is made is not as important as the reality that all distributions together have to make the film (more then offset the cost of making, marketing and maintaining the film) profitable.

Which brings us to 2. Let's assume the numbers are low and the studio makes very little on a film released on BD it will still make a profit and that profit will help with (possibly) making the film profitable.

Apple need that app on game consoles, especially with the next gen machines hitting.

That's the title of this thread. So why do many of you disc cheerleaders get your panties in a wade when someone talks about the benefits of Digital and how it can be the future of home video?
1) most of us get our panties in a bunch no matter what stupid thing someone else says.

2) Technically
Digital & Physical: The Future of Home Video Discussion Thread

not

Digital or Physical: The Future of Home Video Discussion Thread

so your idea that this thread exists so morons can say the future is digital is just wrong. Like the thread titles says the future is definitely both.

Even if there are good things on YouTube, I don’t regularly watch them because of ads. Insane number of ads on YouTube. For the ad-free version YouTube wants C$16/month for it. Far too much for 3rd and 4th rate movies/features offered.

Did you restart the ATV4K? I did that saw nothing changed, checked back a few hours later it was 4K. I am using 14.2 beta 2 same as most of the Reddit parties as another difference. Nothing wrong with running the latest beta.

Readers may want to checkout the new thread below: Tom Scott on video compression and color space. In the first one he does a good job of showing why bit rates do matter. IMO, the production of those videos is quite good.

They have a awful lot of travel, special interest related in 4K. Examples would be 4K virtual hiking, 4K virtual walking though cities, beautiful parks (multiple countries), various museums, historical landmarks. Here is a couple examples

The HDMI 2.1/HDCP 2.3 roll out wasn't until recently (TV's, AVRs). YouTube is staring to have a useful amount of 8K content. The A10x is perfect useful for most content, however they are now starting to roll out products with A14 (example iPad Air 4). So for a Apple Arcade usage they need to augment that with a up to date ATV 8K.

All the various mainstream apps are 4K now. I can't get all that are offered by the Apple TV in Tizen, WebOS, Android. Certainly not all your older TVs can encompass the Apple TV app for accessing your iTune content. It can be used say with a iPad or computer to stream 4K content with multi-channel audio via AirPlay 2.

I like to see a separate audio HDMI port. I would say the next model is somewhere Nov 2020 to March 2021 as a guess.

Most online are asking "Is there a YouTube Premium Plan WITHOUT YouTube Music for a cheaper price?"

I do note some content has only a starting ad, not multiple timepoints during video. Example mood relaxation videos work that way.
But for the videophile this combining the video/music is not necessary, need to have that option to skip music.

Agreed. OT. Have you tried to use the Oppo (203 or 205) to split the video from audio when using the HDMI Input? I tried onetime without success no matter what settings I used.
