Thank you. I must admit I was nearly tempted, but decided not to go with it due to their reputation for bootleg releases. I guess we're in for a long wait before we get (or maybe I should say IF we get) an official release.

I have read from several sources that new masters have been done of True Lies and The Abyss for a while now and that they are waiting for James Cameron to approve them. Once he gets around to it I guarantee there will be a physical release, possibly to tie into the Avatar sequels. Disney knows how high the demand for those titles are and will never turn down a merchandising opportunity.

I have offered to find dealers with large front projection rooms with immersive audio so some here could see and hear what some of us experience on a daily basis but no one has accepted. |

Here's hoping Monster Hunter is watchable and has a great Atmos mix. I don't even care if it is a bad movie just need something new for the collection.

His original comment was just the first line, later he added the second, later the comment about going through a medical ordeal was worrisome as I was online at the time. Then nothing from him for a week. ![]() |

I would love to get physical releases of The Mandalorian (which is the best thing to come out of the Star Wars franchise since Disney acquired it), and the new MCU series that also tie into the movies. Since I collect the MCU movies, I want to get the shows as well to keep with that collection Even though I have Disney+, I would still love physical releases of these shows. And they are from major properties that will likely sell well enough to justify production. That said, most here who are on the "pro-physical" side are still likely using at least 1 or 2 streaming services as well. And while it may continue to be questionable if a lot of content that is original to those services will ever get physical releases, that is no reason IMO for me to stop buying titles that do get released physically. Certainly the decline in physical media sales is generally concerning since the more it declines, the more likely it becomes for some things to not get releases. However, as for why I still collect it with it being in decline (in addition to reasons such as quality and control over my collection)... I believe I've said something like this before somewhere on these forums, but the reason why I collect physical media in general is more or less the same reason why I would buy a niche/obscure title... because I enjoy it and it is something that I want to have regardless of how popular it is or is not. I'm sure most everyone here has at least a few movies and TV shows that they really enjoy that are not the most popular or most well known titles. And regardless of what methods (physical and/or streaming) those titles are available through and which available method(s) one chooses to view them, I doubt that most anyone here would say that no one should enjoy those titles just because they aren't as well known and popular as others. And if actually someone were to come into this thread saying that no one should enjoy some niche indie/smaller/older film when major blockbusters exist and are widely available, most everyone here (regardless of their preference to physical media or streaming) would likely tell that person how stupid and ridiculous that is. Well, the reason for preferring and collecting physical media is more or less the same. It's the method that some prefer for various valid reasons (quality, consistency, not having to worry about a title getting "pulled"), and it's a ridiculous notion that they should stop doing that just because it is not the "most popular" method. I find it funny how this seems to be lost on some people who argue in favor of streaming - especially member(s) that like to argue in favor of streaming, keep hammering about the decline in physical media, acting like those of us who prefer it are crazy, but then need to be regularly reminded that they still collect and rely on physical media (and many of the indie distributors licensing titles from the studios) for many titles that are not easily available and accessible through streaming. It's as if they wake up every day with selective amnesia and need to be reminded of this fact that they have somehow completely forgotten (it's the "50 First Dates" of movie watching and collecting). ![]() |

If they wanted to maximize their revenue potential they could at least release them as Disney Movie Club exclusives because I'm sure a ton of new people would sign up to get those discs. I would if I weren't already a member. |
