This Movie came on Sale, so it's now in My Collection in UHD. Watched it at the Cinema, but I think I'll enjoy it more in my HT. Like I told you guys before, the Best Buy Techs did a Basic Calibration when they setup my Sony UHD TV. The Picture Quality...You guessed it is Fantastic!

A good calibration is anything but basic.

So what is a complete Home Theater setup? To the Elite a Sound Bar is not part of a High End System. So at what price point does a Solid System begin? It all depends on your price point and what sounds good to you. Calibration can also be put into this category on what looks good to you. Of Course Calibration is more Objective, but IMO it comes down to personal taste and more Subjective. What is the Price of a Great System? I'm sure it all depends on the System and the Deep Pockets of the person putting it together!

Floor to ceiling might be a little exaggerated. The highest shelves I could find go 70" and my ceiling is 94ish. I have one shelf left on the wall. I can squeeze one more shelf in but then I couldn't open my closet door so I'd probably have to convert the door to a bi-fold.

I can't imagine storing 8000 titles. I'd love to see what your setup looks like or at least the shelves you are using.

I could always go custom shelfing and going true floor to ceiling but I'm dreading that day since carpetentry just isn't a skill I possess.

Here's a pic of my shelves from awhile back. I've since changed the orientation of my movies from top to bottom instead of left to right and they are all filled but the last shelf:

There is a lot of dead space between the top of your disc cases and the beginning of the next shelf level on each level… I estimate that if you remove the individual shelves and space them with a 3/4 inch gap between cases and shelves, you should be able to acquire another 4 or 5 levels of shelving

A surround system at a bare minimum, otherwise you are only getting half the experience.

I equate it to trying to accurately define pornography. Difficult to quantify it, but you know it when you see it.

Fixed shelves unfortunately but I bought them because they were fixed. Uneven shefling drives me crazy. I think custom shelves are probably ultimately the way to go so I can go truly floor to ceiling at the appropriate height. You just have to make sure to leave room for the odd ball ones like Midsommar.

For limited space and budget I believe one could put together a 7.1.2 Atmos/DTS:X sound with a 86" display for ≤ $3,500. About $700 for Yamaha receiver, 9 Dayton Audio speakers $522, 1 Dayton Audio 12" sub-woofer $180, LG 86" display $1400 and Roku Ultra $95, total hardware = $2897.

I paid about $1,200 for my Atmos system, mainly because I used my legacy speakers. I only had to buy the new 4Ktv, AVR, subwoofers, and the Atmos height speakers. Hardly deep pockets for an awesome 4K DV/HDR10/Atmos (5.2.2) set up.

I watched it last night with my Headphones, and a couple of times I had to turn them down. My Headphones simulate 7.1 surround sound, so my breath was taken away many times!

He asked at what price point a home theater begins. I would say most of the great movies are in mono, therefore a home theater begins with just two speakers. It depends on what you typically watch. But even surround mixes have most of the sound coming from the front, and theatrically surround sucks anyway, as most of those speakers are way above you in the auditorium, separating you from the sound stage. So even two decent speakers and a sub woofer are an improvement over the cinema.

Despite all precautions, I have contracted Covid. This is day 2 of symptoms and they are moderate so far.

Shit. Do you think it was your long trip you mentioned last week that did it?

Hope you have swift recovery.
