What the two films have in common is that they are both "damsel in distress" movies with aquatic creatures threatening them. We all know the settings are different.

Speaking of which, have you or any other members seen Beast yet? Considering a purchase if we get that in 4K.

I thought Crawl sucked. I do have the Rogue BD import, though. I think Beast will only be getting a BD release and no 4K disc a la The Black Phone.

It’s still a woman, a creature and about survival. It’s very similar.

I can't find a BD for Rogue (2007) from any country at this website. Where is yours from?

I don't even remember what country it was from. As Steel mentioned the UK has one. Not sure about which cut is included, though.

They're all listed if you click on "Display all releases all countries" on the right side of the page.

Ah, and now that I'm looking at it I may have gotten the Canadian Alliance version, which is Unrated. It looks more familiar. It was part of a group buy on a different forum years ago.

Definitely. The 4K looks stunning and the audio is a nice upgrade too.

Thanks, I found it.

Odd that it only showed up when I set my search country to "UK" instead of "global."

This version is the 99 minute unrated cut if the time shown on the rear cover art is accurate. It is listed as region free as well, not that that matters to me, but the price is a bit high at Amazon.uk at 30 pounds.

I could not find a Canadian version when setting my search to "Canada."

You can easily find all releases from every region just by going to a movie's releases page and clicking on "Display all releases all countries" on the right side of the page. It will also show all DVD releases and every bundle that includes the movie.

Been a pretty good year for catalog 4k. Received Lost Boys and Poltergeist.

Still have Scream 2, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Casablanca and A Christmas Story to come.

i sold a few of my duplicates, sadly even some criterions since they were so late to the party and others released 4k version of those movies. even parted with some steelbooks and lenticulars that were Blu-rays of movies i have upraded to 4k. figured i could use the disc space and i'll never watch the features. and most are on youtube anyway.

The license to play the content on a disc is always held by the last legal owner of the disc (and only the last legal owner of the disc).

That should clear up all issues with theft without entertaining your ridiculous notion that all previous owners of a disc retain the license to its content.

@ Steedeel

From The Digital Bits:

Also, BBC Earth is releasing the new 6-part nature documentary series Frozen Planet II on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD in the UK on 10/17. The series is narrated by Sir David Attenborough.
But no info yet on a US release. Guess it is just a matter of time.

By all accounts, Kris Deering, Dave Harper and other calibrators, the JVC models win over the Sony’s in the contrast comparison. The Sony’s win in the sharpness category, the two that I have saw have virtually no color fringing.

Was disappointed with my Audio Advice viewing of the Sony VPL-XW6000ESW, I wanted to see what the video settings were but they had limited control using a Control4. The sales guy finally got to the menu but could not navigate the settings so I gave up. I had my Spears and Munsil UHD HDR Benchmark disc and asked to put it in a UHD Blu-ray player and to set it to “video thru” but again the guy was clueless. So I just looked at the multi-burst patterns and the demo material at 10000 & 1000 DV and 2000 HDR10.

Without knowing the projector and player settings the viewing was worthless to me. I will say the 3840 burst was clearly reproduced, my Sony projector will not. Will have to look into this more as the Nyquist filter should remove this burst. Sometime back I asked Stacey about this and he said his LG TV could reproduce this burst.

I will contact Atlanta Home Theater (here) to see what projectors they have on display.
