Got my flu shot and bivalent booster yesterday at the same time and on the same arm. Aside from some light fatigue, all is well.

I have the new DV Bram Stoker's Dracula and Fright Night 4K discs coming today at some point. I also purchased the e-book of Fright Night Origins, which expands on the film, with more backstory and character development than the film. It was also co-written by director Tom Holland.

I saw that Highlander is getting a domestic 4K release in December from Lionsgate but I'm keeping my UK order.

I thought they don't apply a flu shot and bivalent booster to the same arm, otherwise how do you identify if you have a reaction to either. Expect the bivalent to be more sore at 48 hours later, maybe a slight temp. They were developing a combo shot of the two for some time in the future.

Yeah, that was the option I was given and since it was cumbersome to try and do one arm each, I just said do the same arm -- since it was also the arm closest to the nurse. At least I will be good for another year. I looked at my vaccination card and I received the last booster and flu shot last November. Time flew by!

Wow, this was an unexpected announcement. I normally don't purchase TV shows nowadays, but may make an exception to these just to give Amazon that nudge to go ahead and release RoP on 4K disc, too.

Season 1 was very very good with a solid Atmos track as a bonus. Season 2 dropped off a bit, but was still worth it.

Sorry if this is redundant, what is your streaming device(s)? Looked in your equipment list but did not see one.

Been a very long day looking at fall colors on the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Cherohala Skyway.

At the risk of subjecting myself to criticism, the pendulum swings all the way to disc only in my setup. I don’t have a streaming device currently, but will probably grab an Apple TV at some point. I picked up the first two seasons of Jack Ryan when they were released.

Nothing to criticize. IF my Sony UHD BD players had more streaming apps I would not have the other boxes. They never miss on using original frame rate and resolution.

The Nvidia Shield Pro (Android based) has to have a app to match frame rate. Match frame rate may have been addressed with the last Android (Google TV) update but have not updated mine because of other problems with that release. Will research at some point.

Apple finally fixed match frame rate (last year??) and I procured one. Also have a Roku Ultra and Amazon Cube. Sometimes Amazon and Walmart will have the Ultra for around $80 and Amazon will have a ATV4K on sale.

Is playing Dolby Vision movies from the TV's Android system still a lost cause? I tried Codi with my new Sony yesterday. The speed was too slow, which I can probably fix with one of those Ethernet to USB adapters. But, more importantly, I couldn't bitstream sound to my receiver. It was coming through in stereo. I did set both the TV and receiver to ARC/eARC and made sure bitstreaming was enabled in Kodi and on the TV.

I'm not totally sure about this A80K (top-right). I know it's significantly dimmer than my 900E. It's hard to do a side by side comparison. madVR's (top-right image) colors look much better than my LG UP870 (bottom-left image). I also tried comparing between my PS4 and BD player, but the PS4 BD player doesn't even have any color options. Then I tried moving the HDMI cable from TV to TV, but the time in between made it harder to judge. I also tried taking photos of each screen separately and then comparing them from my computer, but the camera exposure and ISO variabilities made that not useful.

I would do a madVR side by side comparison, but for some reason Nvidia is not sending 10-bit video through its only HDMI port. I have to use my DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, and I only have the one.

Walmart Reduces DVD, Blu-ray Disc Footprint by 20%

Quote:
As disc sales, overall, continue to decline, Walmart Inc. is reportedly scaling back its DVD and Blu-ray Disc store footprint by 20% in advance of this year’s holiday season, sources say.

Walmart is the world’s biggest retailer and one of the top sellers of packaged media.

Last fall, Media Play News reported that many Target stores, in the midst of an overall store layout redesign, “have seemingly cut in half the amount of shelf space in their electronics departments devoted to packaged-media movies and TV shows.” Best Buy stores, too, have shrunk their packaged-media sections over the last few years.

Expected. Who shops in store these days? Even when buying for family over Christmas and birthdays, it’s way easier just to use Prime and get one day shipping.
I haven’t been near a store for a year but I have bought more then ever this year.

Discs are doing ok in the U.K.
Heck, my own family buy me discs online every time. I’m sure many families are the same.

Did you read the article?

Quote:
Further cutting into Walmart’s disc sales, observers say, is the chain’s growing tendency to put select merchandise — from razors to DVDs — inside locked cabinets.

“DVD has traditionally been an impulse buy,” one observer said, “and tracking down a clerk to unlock a cabinet doesn’t play into that scenario.”
BTW - Amazon Prime here in the US is two days shipping not one.

Yes - discs are doing better in the UK simply because the UK is far behind the US in streaming adoption.

Netflix and Amazon have had streaming services here for many years. Enough time for people to flee disc.

For me personally, definitely easier to order online. My nearest store is in Chester - some 20 miles or so from where I live. There was another one called Fopp in Manchester the last time I visited the city (about an hour's drive) just before all the covid lockdowns started, and it was really good - loads of discs from indie labels like Arrow, Eureka, etc.

2? That's all? You are forgetting the Pandemic accelerated the growth of streaming.

Here in the US the average family subscribes to 5 SVODs. Does the UK even have 5 SVODs?
