Glad you liked it, we really liked it as well.

Since you seem to like westerns:

Thanks cheez for the heads up. Watched episode 1 last night and it appears we have another series winner.

Also interested in 1923, here.

Have you watched 1883 yet? I was hesitant at first with it, but liked it more than Yellowstone. The other quasi Western I toy around with but haven't pulled the trigger on (no pun intended) is Longmire. Curious if anyone has any opinions either way with it.

Yes I have watched 1883 and I highly recommend it. As for Longmire, I haven't watched it but have heard it's very good!

We have, we liked it. It was a Netflix disc rental. At this time it is not a purchase but that is always subject to change.

Longmire is a great series. The first 3 seasons were on A&E before being canceled. Netflix came in and swooped them up for 3 more seasons. There's a couple of subpar episodes, I believe in season 4, but the show ends strong in the final two seasons. It has been a couple of years since I watched the show once it ended.

Forgot to add to my comment(s), as always, view and judge for yourself. I do not want to dissuade anyone from viewing content they may enjoy and I/we very much disliked.

First two seasons are available together in a set, so may take a chance. I took a gamble with Castle Rock, and have really enjoyed it, especially the second season. Maybe I get lucky again.

They're all on Netflix. If you want to try before you buy.

Had to get Pearl while on sale for $15.

If anyone knows Mia Goth, please tell her she can film all the sequels and prequels to X at my place.

And, I'm willing to buy them all over again on UHD BD eventually.

I gave the local church my Sony VW600ES that I no longer use. I know I'll be setting it up for them whenever they want to use it. I think I need to buy them a streaming box too as they are pretty clumsy with tech and those are pretty simple.

I was going to preorder it, but there is talk of a 4K Atmos disc looming down the road. At $15, I will probably roll the dice though.

CEO: Redbox Looking to Increase Kiosk Footprint as Daily DVD Rental Price Increases to $2.25

Quote:
Redbox ended the most-recent fiscal period (ended Sept. 30) with 34,000 legacy kiosks renting DVD and Blu-ray Disc movies. While the brand further transitions to digital distribution, including transactional VOD and free ad-supported streaming television, it hasn’t turned a cold shoulder to packaged, according to William J. Rouhana Jr., CEO of parent company Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment.

Speaking on the Nov. 14 fiscal call, Rouhana said that major studio movies remain the key rental driver at Redbox kiosks — a reality that has been undermined since the pandemic began in early 2020. With limited high-profile theatrical releases over the past two years, Rouhana admitted frustration with the lack of marquee movie titles available to kiosks over the summer — a trend he thinks is changing.

“It won’t come as a surprise that the outsized theatrical hits…Paramount’s Top Gun: Maverick as it works its way through our distribution windows, will have an outsized impact on the number of [disc] rentals in our kiosks in the fourth quarter,” Rouhana said.

Indeed, Maverick remains Redbox’s top-grossing ($19.95) transactional VOD release in the platform’s brief history, while the average number of DVD rentals increased 25% largely due to the movie. At the same time, Redbox saw an average growth in disc rentals in October, a trend Rouhana said has continued into November following Maverick DVD release on Halloween.

The executive contends Redbox kiosks remain a viable business with the right retail partner. The company plans to add 1,000 kiosks with its most-profitable retail partner going forward. Redbox raised the nightly DVD movie rental fee from $1.99 to $2.25, effective Nov. 1. In the third fiscal quarter, ended Sept. 30, kiosk’s gross operating margin after product costs was 59%.

“We need consistent, big title movie releases to get back to historical [disc rental] levels,” Rouhana said. “That consistency, particularly if you look at exhibitor results, is not yet where we want it. However, it’s evident the industry is trending back in a positive direction with more studios recommitting to the theatrical window.”

While Rouhana doesn’t believe the kiosk rental business can return to pre-pandemic levels, he said he would be satisfied achieving 50% of Redbox’s 2019 disc rental revenue. Redbox is now the sole revenue source for studios when it comes to retail kiosk disc rentals, according to Rouhana. And with Netflix still generating about $35 million in legacy by-mail DVD rental revenue in its most-recent fiscal period, the distribution channel still has legs.

“You can’t underplay how important that is,” he said.

Wow. Amazon package arrived yesterday, and instead of the CPU cooler and graphics card, what it contained was the CPU cooler and a pack of 50 face masks. Replacement will arrive in five to seven days. Wonder if the packer walked out with a graphics card under their jacket in this winter cold. Probably would have stopped coming to work right after.

Sorry to hear about your shipping problems, have had very few in my > 20 years of Amazon orders.

Any particular reason for choosing the MSI PRO Z690-A MB? Have had quite a number of ASUS, some AMI (American Megatrends), HP and Aorus MB's.

Because it was only 159.99 and has SATA ports for all six of my devices. The Asus boards I looked at only have four. I wanna drop the PCIe SATA expansion card I've been using, for no reason. On the four year old AMD board I'm using now, the M.2 slot shares bandwidth with two of the six SATA ports, disabling them when I use my NVMe SSD. This new board won't have that problem. The Z690s are for overclocking, but I never have and doubt I will.
