I oppose it but not for the reasons you state.

It's funny how we are getting more and more people joining this forum that have no interest in Bluray. It's very odd IMO.

I still think the only way to really tell the difference is with good equipment.....55" or greater HDTV, with 25+Mbps Solid Internet Connection.
I can tell the difference on any size TV.

Nope I think it's because they prefer better PQ.

Just a shame that we will get all that stuff super fast but on teeny tiny devices. That's the future. A return to pan and scan and stereo sound at best. Great, can't wait!

You guys are set on killing home cinema by supporting this crap IMO.

I watched a movie on my watch today. I was shocked, but it was the best movie experience I've ever had. Unfortunately only one of my earbuds works, but I think the one side had a good spatial presence. My only regret is that my watch wasn't widescreen, but they can fix that with the next version.

I hope you are kidding, and not feeding into Steedeel predictions because that will be the end of Cinema. I still think that Home Theater will keep growing, and the Cinema will get very Luxurious and Customized to enhance the special effects. People will use Mobile Devices more, but the Home Theater and Cinema will be around forever.

Here we go feeding into Steedeel, and watching Movies on a Tiny Screen with a Magnifying Glass and pretending to see all the great details, because you are using Physical.....Oh, yea it will happen!

He is speaking the truth. Just look at any greenery in SD and then HD. It's night and day. Same with human hair. Or textures like brick and stone.

I heard all the usual bullshit before buying my first Bluray. 'You won't see the difference' 'it's not much better than DVD'. Blimey, were they wrong. My first Bluray was Apocalypto. It blew me away.

You guys must watch from your boathouse with binoculours if you think there ain't no difference. It's all in the detail. That will be even more obvious with 4K Bluray. Maybe Digital can catch up in ten years. Having said that, it won't need to. You guys are happy (IMO) with the crap they serve up now. Do you know there are people out there who watch iTunes downloads on a big screen and can't tell the difference? I mean, the digital noise on almost any scene is a bit of a clue. You lot just don't WANT to see the difference so you can justify it all. Not buying it, not for a second.

The Key Word is iTunes, most people here think this is Digital HD and it's nothing but Grain. So unless you can compare on a Big HDTV with a Solid Connection, I don't want to hear about it. Give me your Equipment before you make any comments. Tiny Screens with Slow DLS Connections won't cut it!

I watch quite a bit of stuff on my iphone 6 plus or ipad. Nothing wrong with it really if you go and account for distance vs size its probably equivalent to a 65 inch screen or bigger at a normal viewing distance (10-15 foot viewing distance vs 12 inches from my iphone). Now its not the same as watching on a big screen with surround sound persay but it definitely works well when you are being lazy or traveling. physical and digital both have disadvantages which is why physical and digital is the way to go.

do you really see Sony selling movies on a size model? they are in the tv selling business. When the studios don't like a model they kill it just like hd dvd. for that reason alone I doubt they will ever start selling at resolutions lower then sd with watch size screen size only limitations. Its more likely they will get rid of sd all togeather as a format since it makes them store an entire extra encode of a movie for their entire library.

yes yes when you buy digital they should mail you a slipcover^^. Not sure what the functionality of it would be except to look nice but thats about all the functionality a physical copies slip cover has also. If they do that I think all the problems will be solved digital will have won if they just give us our physical slipcovers so we can make idk a fort out of them.

I wish digital had a free market though. Let people buy and sell digital copies though itunes vudu etc for perhaps a nominal transaction fee. without a used market and a extremely limited sellers market digital will always feel like we dealing with a monopoly.

That is what the studios want after all, complete control of it. Why would they do that when they can milk you dry by reselling content, charging for storage (someone has to maintain the cloud, it's not the one god created ).

They are also trying to exercise more of this wretched control of theirs by adding online activation and so on to the specifications of UHD Bluray so that is something to be wary of.

For the time being normal Blu ray is the best bet if you want to have your freedom of choice.

Well, you are the Exact type of consumer that will lead us into this mess IMO. Enjoying small devices and watching tablets and phones because (in your words) you are feeling lazy. Film deserves more respect than that.

It's not grain, grain is a positive thing. (Comments like these tell me all I need to know.) Do you mean digital noise or shimmer?

Reading the comment from another poster, no wonder you guys don't see flaws with digital. You sit 15 feet away lol! fine for a projector but not a tv That's too far away. DVD will look great at that distance. Maybe you guys will be just fine with your smartwatches after all. Digital will look awesome on that!

Hey, what's your problem dude? Just because you refuse to watch a film on anything other than a projector sized screen, doesn't mean everyone else should follow suit. It's personal choice.

If I want to watch something on my iPad Pro 256GB on the plane, or my Apple TV at home (which provides me with satisfactory audio and visual quality), who else's freakin' business is it, but mine❗️

It's everyone's business because I don't want to lose the right to watch on a big screen.
