Yeah, I don't generally watch many movies on cable either. I DVR a lot but I rarely watch them

Even in the event that streaming replaces physical it will easily be a decade or more and physical will go the way of Boutique releases for special selected films...and I like a Dinosaur will happily fade away, in the dark corners of resale shops and eBay and Amazon will lurk cheap Blu-ray and 4K...no way I will run out of titles in my lifetime, then the generations to come will convert to Holostreaming in a Trek style Holodeck...

30 (roughly) excluding Blu-ray.

I blind buy the ones I expect I will love on Blu-ray. Chernobyl, AHS, Killing Eve, Peter Kay’s Car Share, Idiot Broad, This Is England 86,88 and 90. Hannibal, Bates Motel, Wolf Creek, Twin Peaks The Return, etc.. I will probably add Watchmen to that list.

Some of the shows I watch would never get a Blu-ray.

Then they offered me a lot more money still to re-up and go to Fort Rucker for helicopter school and warrant officer. At the time the life span of a chopper pilot was not all that good at Rucker and much less so in country. Where I came from very few went to college and I never thought I would make it but being in the service gave me new goals. So I set my sights on college and did not deviate. It did feel really strange being back in a classroom after being away almost 4-½ years.

Years ago I spent a lot of time in small aircraft because several colleagues were licensed pilots, some were multi-engine, IFR rated or were in IFR traning. My younger brother was half owner of a Mooney Ranger with re-tracks and VP prop, that puppy sure could scoot.
I know what you mean, life has a way of throwing you curves. In 1968 I had some college but no degree, a friend at work that came out of the Navy told me the Army was taking people into Flight School with only a High School Diploma. I wanted to fly for the Airlines and had taken flying lessons, and had a Commercial Certificate. At the Army Recruiting Station I passed all the test to get into Flight School, but the wait time could be two years. So the Recruiter made me a deal, he would sign me up for Helicopter Mechanic School (67N20) and start the process for Flight School once I signed the paper work. Took the offer, Hook, Line, and Sinker, and talk about In-Country Life Expectancy for a Helicopter Mechanic which is just a Door Gunner for an "Fng New Guy" was Three Weeks! Well the system worked, and I went to Flight School before being shipped to Vietnam.

After getting back to the States I got stationed at Fort Sill, OK as a Flight Instructor. The CWO 4 there offered me OV1 training if I Re-Upped, which is a Twin Turbo IR Aircraft. I turned it down because I didn't want to go back to Vietnam. That was my big mistake in my Aviation Career. I went to San Jose State on the GI Bill, so I guess it all turned out okay. Life and Living!

You're talking to somebody who's been too lazy to sign up for trial streaming accounts. Which is good because I'd probably also be too lazy to cancel them before the trial periods are over.

Are rentals always an option? Where can I rent Good Eats or Holmes Makes It Right on disc? Or Lawn and Order or (I swear I'm not making this one up) The Vanilla Ice Project? Is there somewhere I can get a disc the next time I'm itching to watch Vanilla Ice and his entourage work hard and play hard on location as they renovate a Palm Beach mansion for high-dollar resale?

And this is just episode-based TV. That's not even getting into live TV.

For Atmos, do you have overheads or up-firing speakers?

Anyone interested in how to add 4 overhead speakers on the cheap?
9.2.4 for Atmos
7.2.4 for DTS X w/2 matrixed additional height speakers making it a quasi 7.2.6
For everything else being up mixed through Auro, it is 9 height speakers with 7 at ear level.

My room has a total of 24 speakers (15 overhead and 9 ear level) and 5 subs.

Man, I thought I’d never say it, but I miss Xfinity. More for their internet than their cable. Unfortunately you have to get some bundle to get good internet. So we’ve never been able to. The Ex is already looking into satellite, which is big in Texas. Hopefully she gets the dish put somewhere that doesn’t affect the aesthetics of the house.

It is truly a nice house I’m still not sure what my options are where I’m moving outside or HughesNet or Suddenlink. And even then, I’m not sure if I’ll do either. My landlord has DirectTV, but I’ll most likely put away the box and just sign back up for Netflix DVD plan until I work out my monthly budget. On the bright side, plenty of movies and tv shows to catch up with until I do.

Maybe. Like I said in my first post, I can definitely see the appeal of cord cutting and maybe I could cobble together various streaming packages that would get me everything I want when I want it and maybe it would be cheaper. Drastically cheaper? I dunno. I haven't done a lot of exploring when it comes to streaming (I'm just now looking into Fire Sticks and Rokus as alternatives to cable boxes in places that will be awkward to wire) but it seems like just getting the sports coverage I want will take a big chunk of those drastic savings.

But who knows.

How much do they charge for Blackhawks games and impeachment coverage?

I've got 5.1 and sound for streaming is a definite downgrade. However, video quality (for me) isn't a night and day difference with streaming. So for my favorites I want it looking and sounding the best possible. For movies I have less of an attachment to I'm fine streaming. I'll continue to buy 3D because no one is streaming that.

Some of the show I watch would never get a release. Plus, that’s dodgy maths. I don’t just have cable for tv shows and docs. I have it for premier sports.

It's still the best, at least visually, the movies have ever looked on home media

I did warn people it would be open season with things like this. It’s took them one day!
