![]() Only see very few disc labeled as rental and I have no idea if the Vudu app could tell the difference. Until very recently Redbox has been buying ALL Disney titles at retail so I know those titles would work. In the past they have done this with other studios as well. Last edited by Wendell R. I have seldom known Disney to leave any money on the table; they'll keep selling us discs so long as there is any significant moolah to be had. Disney likes having many revenue streams, pun intended.
Disney+ is not expected to break even, yet alone turn a profit, for at least three years and at their current rock bottom pricing of $7 per month, or even less with a contract, that's no surprise. When they get enough people hooked on their service, watch those rates rise until they are comparable with other subscription streaming services. Last edited by Vilya; 01-02-2020 at 08:11 PM. |

Thank you all
I had just been using the microfiber that came with my tv a few years ago but there were certain smudges that would not come out. Best buy has audioquest cleaner for $20 with a pineapple microfiber cloth and it works miracles. Only used it once but it looks brand new again |

Yes, I know, I've been following the thread in the wishlist section. I just think it's astonishing that one man has so much power. And if Disney is serious about releasing them they would just make him sign off on those. They're funding his Avatars after all. And I think his obsession with Avatar will never end. Four sequels in the works already. If those make a ton of money, which isn't unlikely, then what ? Even more sequels, prequels, spin-offs and by then so much time has passed he can just start rebooting them. He should just release The abyss and True lies already. Many fans want them. |

I think he has that power per his contract and that is hard to take away. So much money has already been spent towards making these Avatar sequels that I think that Disney likely has no leverage in that regard even if they wanted to use it. These sequels are all but certain to make them vastly more money than any blu-ray release of these two old classics. At the end of the day, it is the money that matters to Disney, not what fans of The Abyss and True Lies want. At this point, I am ready to try and make a voodoo doll of Cameron and to inflict pain upon him hourly until he gets these released, but I need something personal of his to complete the doll. ![]() |

Im very reserved when it comes to buying titles, I personally only buy movies that im likely to watch again (more than 2, 3, 4 times), like Home Alone (as a typical example) and ive probably said this before about my buying habits but, ive been thinking...
why do some people keep large collections of titles? Like do you ever go back to rewatch them? I kinda understand about steelbooks, yeah, they're nice to look at/keep on display but standard blurays nnnnahhh, and this is where the whole thing starts where people start selling their titles (because they dont have the space anymore) and they |

It is an added bonus when I have company as my guests can browse my collection and find something that they either have never seen or that they have longed to see again. The quality advantage of discs aside, much of what I own is not going to be found on the likes of Netflix whose focus is now almost entirely on their largely unoriginal content. Even digital sellers like Vudu lack a lot of titles. I like knowing that I can watch my movies no matter how well my internet service may, or may not, be performing not to mention the variability of how well a digital provider may be handling the demand upon their servers. My ability to watch my discs in their full quality is never compromised due to such external forces over which I have no control. Almost everyone that I know have large collections. The only difference is in what they collect. We fill our space with something. It is analogous in some ways as to why people keep their books despite seldom re-reading them and that certainly takes much more time than rewatching a movie. You never know when you might want to see, or read, something again. It is fantastic being able to do so the moment that the desire strikes you. Last edited by Vilya; 01-03-2020 at 08:23 PM. |

Which five DVD titles did you buy? I bought two titles myself and it was for the DVD version of Wasabi and Crimson Rivers 2: Angels of the Apocalypse. I bought simply because there are no English friendly copies on BD or Digital HD anywhere. The DVDs were released by Sony stateside. I also lucked out with Wasabi since the price fluctuates because it may be OOP. |

![]() I don't make as many blind purchases with blu-rays as I used to do back in the DVD days, and I now tend to buy what I know I'm going to enjoy. But as most of the time there's not much really worth watching on TV anyway, I'll always find a film that I'm happy to revisit. ![]() |

![]() I checked the "run time" of my collection, not including legacy formats like laserdiscs, and if I spend 8 hours a day watching every single day, I can rewatch it all in just 6.75 years. I'm good with that; that's "job" seniority worth earning! ![]() Last edited by Vilya; 01-03-2020 at 08:18 PM. |
