Default What do you do with Movies/TV shows you've upgraded to a better format?

What do you do with DVDs you've upgraded to Blu-ray or standard Blu-ray's you've upgraded to 4K?

Do you keep or get rid of the extra copy?

Is it dependant on something like extras on the disc, or if it's one of your favourite movies, etc.?

Does how much space you have available come into consideration?

I'm trying to figure out what I should do with duplicates in different formats and if it's worth hanging onto DVDs I now have on Blu-ray.

Once I am done watching a movie or series, I tend to keep those old and ancient ones which are rare to find and that have a very high rating on IMDB and sell those common movies in a thrift shop.

I toss DVD's, Blu-ray's I haven't decided yet. I might give the Blu's to my brother.

I sell Blu-rays. I donate DVDs to my local library.

What a waste. You should see if there is a local library that will accept DVD donations.

early on I did give some to friends, family and coworkers that asked. But early on I had decided that I had enough BDs and did not need to watch DVDs any more since they did not look or sound good enough for me, so I placed them all in bins in my storage room in my hose with old consoles and games. At that point no one was asking for them (since they were not in front of them) and it would be too complex to find the specific titles I will never need again so they just sit there in bins.

I used to sell the extras that had decent value but that has gotten harder over the last year. it used to be a bit of a buy lion king dvd for 8 sell for 25, buy blu ray for 10 sell blu ray for 35 and eventually buy the 4k for 10 lols. I kind of loved the Disney vault I'm pretty sure most of my Disney films ended up costing negative amounts as I worked my way up the format lol.

If an extra was only worth a few dollars I would generally just keep it and take it perhaps when traveling.

The resale markets actually kind of what got me into blu rays. It was kind of a hobby/game.
