I was able to fast forward past the blackout and watch the rest of the movie with no problems.

ohh my bad i thought it was later this month. but i checked and its still up to date so either way it still didnt work.

I watched it and all of the special features last night with no problems. I guess it's just isolated incidents.

Fine here with a 60-gig PS3 and the latest firmware (2.17). Watched it last night.

BTW, thought it was pretty good romantic comedy and some parts were hilarious.

Same here. I played it on my 40GB (firmware 2.17). I REALLY enjoyed the movie, too, BTW.

80gb ps3 it works perfect. no problems with fast forward/rewind. make sure you got the newest firmware. my screen went black when i watched sunshine. notice i had 2 get the up 2 date firmware after it was installed it worked fine.

I also had problems with Dan in Real Life on my PS3. Every time I rewinded it I got a black screen. When I quit playback and went to the main menu it didn't even show a Blu Ray in the player. I never had any problem like that before. Incidentally, that was one of the worst movies I saw in recent months.

Just as another data point to my above comment, I watched about half of it on my other PS3 earlier today and had no problems with it either (it's also a 60-gig PS3 with the latest firmware).

I read this thread before I watched Dan in Real Life.

I too using the 40 gig PS3 with the latest update had the movie go black on me as well.

I was crossing my fingers after I read the thread but that didn't work.

Mine went blank right at the beginning when they stopped for gas. I noticed this happened after I used the rewind function. I was in the other room when the movie started getting a drink. So I missed like a minute or so and backed it up. About a minute later it went black. I had to restart the whole movie. I decided to try and skip a minute or so past the black out and it played for a minute and went black again. Re-Started it a 3rd time and started at the blackout spot and it played fine this time. I was able to finish the movie without any problems after that.

The movie was so-so. Nice blend of comedy and drama but very predictable.
