To be exact it's 18 boxes in total.

$30x18b= $540 you'd be paying, still, cheaper than the original Japanese Dragon Boxes, I must say, but still not sure it comes with the NEP's or not. Or the Japanese audio is actually better than on the DVD release.

I wonder what's taking Funimation long to release a high quality trailer for the Blu-ray sets.

Well its 291 episodes (291/17=17.11 isn't exactly rounded to 18) , and I'd figure they'd throw in an extra episode here or there... Either way just like the Orange boxes, Kai, and the dragon boxes these will be less than 25 in no time.

I just hope they keep the CN audio on these.

You're wrong, do some research next time.

If you count the tiny boxes on the orange bar that's on the Blu-ray of DBZ 1.1, you'll find 18.

From DBZ 1.2 (Vegeta's character, Episodes 018 to 034)

2x9=18

FYI, the Dragon Boxes Z are selling from $30 and up.

lol actually I'm not. They could put 200 episodes in one box and we'd both be wrong. And no I'd never examin packaging that close especially on something that hasn't come out yet. My number was purely based on if they stuck to 17 episodes per box.

And they've been much cheaper than $30 on amazon a few times.

As far as the audio goes, it should still have the same voice actors that were used when the series was airing on CN's Toonami when Funimation took over the U.S. English dub cast. It would be pointless redubbing all 291 episodes just so they can add the changes in the voice cast they made for DBZ Kai.

However the music is like i've mentioned on a couple of threads on this forum that Funimation let the rights to Bruce Faulconer's music expire, and there's no way it's going to come back. The only way you can enjoy Bruce Faulconer's music is by either buying the soundtrack cds, buying the orange boxsets, or buying the single volumes. Also most of the DBZ movies still have Bruce Faulconer's music including the ones we have out on Blu-ray.

Still hoping for anime lightning deals for this series and Yu Yu Hakusho so I can finish adding them to my collection.

I've got all the Kai parts so far.
I was wondering, when will part 7 be released?
Want to see them in a huge pace but before I can see them, I want them all.

It's unannounced, and so probably sometime in early 2012. Plus Funimation is already getting into making season boxsets of DBZ Kai.

Making season boxsets of DBZ kai? You mean the levels or the one with the new music (because of the music scandal)?
Wish I could finish the Kai, with part 7, this year instead of 2012.

That's the final design of the covers, so it'll be 18 Blu-rays levels for those who decide to buy them.

Excellent news, there won't be any Faulconer crap ruining the Dragon Ball Z series on Blu-ray.

I'd bet FUNimation's gonna announce Part 7 this or next month and have it for pre-order still this year, waiting till January 2012 for 12 episodes would be pretty boring.

Faulconer's music in DBZ was pretty popular back in the day. In fact, it helped out its popularity in the U.S.(well besides Toonami being a popular part of Cartoon Network and it did air at a good time of the day which many kids, teens, and even adults could watch it).

I will say this though, the American rock bands they used in the DBZ movies like Disturbed, Deftones, Pantera, and so on for the English dub will probably never be heard again except for those Blu-ray double features we already have. However with this, I will need to confirm that since they're re-releasing the movies on dvd in boxsets this November.

With DBZ Kai part 7, lets just say it will not make it for Christmas. January or February are more likely. The pre-orders will probably come up soon while its still 2011, but that's about it.

I believe Dragon Ball Z could be successful even without the replacement score. All countries outside the US had the original Kikuchi score and the show was still successful.

It was unnecessary for FUNimation to produce their own music (Faulconer) because they've already had already someone much musically superior but, due to Saban, Shuki Levy couldn't work with FUNi any more. Unfortunately.

So, they should've either used the original DBZ BGM which is amazing or paid extra for Shuki Levy to produce music for them.

But I'll take a guess Faulconer was cheaper and so, this is why they kept using his techno/rock music for DBZ.

Shunsuke Kikuchi, Kenji Yamamoto and Shuki Levy, these three were able to compose music (despite Yamamoto's scandal, please) that fit perfectly with DBZ, but Faulconer failed to.

Yamamoto produced two of the most epic scenes (Trunks slicing Freeza / Son Gohan's SSJ2 Moment) of DBZ and so he deserves the second place.

I wish they'd use Unmei No Hi ~Tamashii Vs. Tamashii~, but it's sorta' impossible 'cos this track was composed by Kenji Yamamoto.

So here's what we're gonna get on Dragon Ball Z Kai: Part 8

This track was composed by Kikuchi, it fits the scene, it's silent and emotional, but as expected the original insert song is better, which is solely available and exclusively on Dragon Ball Z.

Dragon Ball Kai's still a pretty good alternative to DBZ. The replacement DBZ BGM is also great but could've been even better (if they had even more than just 100 tracks to use).

Well Bruce Faulconer's music did work well with Joe Boyd Vigil's music on Toonami for the Toonami opening videos

Plus let's not forget when Funimation got rid of the Bruce Faulconer opening videos, and also gave the 1st 2 seasons the Funimation English dub(which was originally only done in Canada from Pioneer Entertainment and with the few missing episodes now included)

So your saying the true version that was closest to the Cartoon network version is the box sets that make a picture if you have them all right? The Saga box set's? Also which version do you think has to most blood in it? I always found DBZ to be way more Badass with blood.

The thing is though, Dragon Ball Z is not all about the blood, as there are very few moments when a character's bleeding. Dragon Ball Z is of course fighting series, but it also have many different elements as well such as drama and character development ( which is in the original Dragon Ball). Cartoon Network's version of Z isn't really the "true" version of Z, that would have to be the Japanese version. The US dub for Z charged a ton of stuff including music and dialogue. The dub for Kai however, is very accurate and changed very few stuff.

So your saying stick with Kai? I have 1-6 and just started watching it, but looking back I really feel the need to start looking around at used stuff and see if I can find the original box set of the American DBZ that I use to droll over in Suncoast .

As for blood I just remember Killian getting horned in the chest from freeza and bleeding alot. Am I wrong? I was very young.

Yeah for now, stick with Kai. The Z Blu-ray sets will come out in 18 sets since each set is 17 episodes a piece which is a ripoff until a megabox set comes out. Also, you're right about Kuririn getting horned by Freeza, but again, that's the very few moments Z presented blood for the characters.
