Same here. With the way Dragon Ball looks, I can hardly wait to see them do this kind of upscale towards Z & GT. It's a damn shame we'll never get an English version of it. Guess I'll make my own using AB's new Blu-Rays.

So no chance of funimation/crunchyroll getting receiving these masters.

It will end up looking like this.

Its the best that we have gotten, but I would still rather have a modern native 4k scan of the negatives, with no BS filters. Comparatively to how Dragon Ball has been treated, this is great. But compared to real native scans of anime. Not so great. Toei Animation needs to step up.

Edit: With all that said, this is the best we could have hoped for with the source they were given. Who ever is responsible needs a raise. The color correction was the bare minimum that Toei needed to do back when the Dragon Box was first released. Its great to see this incompetence/laziness being fixed 19 years later.

Some people have already acquired this releasse and posted images on discord servers. This is the best-looking DB release by far. Obviously, Toei doing a new transfer would be better but that will not happen.

Which discord servers because it’s not on dragon ball related discord server oddly enough.

so from what it seems, the DVDs that Walmart has now are in the OAR which is very much a good thing

For DBZ? Nope. Walmart only carries repackages of the orange brick DVDs and season set Blu-rays.

DB and DBGT were never cropped though, in case you’re talking about them.

The DB Season Sets were zoomed in, but not cropped. I really hope this French BD release gets licensed for an English release.

Does anyone know when the French BDs are coming out and would it be entirely possible to import them to the US? I'm not holding my breath for Crunchyroll to put out an English version. So, it looks like I may have to do one myself.

November 30 for the first set, but it's in stock now at fnac because they maintained the original release date of today.

-English and Japanese audio
-English subtitles
-Next episode previews
-Proper opening and closing credits
-restored Japanese music inserts on English audio

I can get not being a fan of the pilaf saga but the rest of dragon ball is an adventure version of z mixed with comedy.

With the way things are going with Crunchyroll at the moment, I'm afraid it doesn't seem very likely.

I hear that the reason they don't add English subtitles and/or NEPs is due to combat "reverse importing". Anyone know what that means exactly?
