Default Upgrading to 4K tv: what did you do to your old HDTV?

Self explanatory title, but we already have two big HDTVs at home and don't have the space to add a third one. Thinking of picking up a new 4K HD TV this BF to replace the main HDTV at our living room but in the meantime, I would like to know how you got rid of your old display!

A couple years ago when Best Buy delivered our new LG C7 OLED, they took the old tv away for free.

I sold my main HT tv, 1080p Sony SXRD to a great family for dirt, and I included several HDMI cables, a 1080p appleTV, an extra lamp assembly and original manual. the family was very happy to have it and super happy for all the extras i included. that was last year and it's still rolling great for them.

i also gave my Daughter my bedroom 1080p 55" insigna tv and she loved it and that was before the tv mentioned above. she is always happy to accept my gently, lovingly used hand me downs. she says keep'em coming. she also said, it's time for me to get a new 4K!

No, Best Buy charge $15.00 to take away old TVs whenever a new one is delivered. They may not have told you specifically it was an additional charge, but it is. If you still have your receipt take a look at it and see if there was a service charge and if so, that's what it's for.

Put my ten year old 50" Panny plasma with deteriorating picture quality out on the trash pile last year and literally within 5 minutes some guy in a truck stopped to look at it. Asked me if it still worked. I told him yes and offered to help load it into his flatbed. As we were hoisting it up he looked at me and said "damn this is heavy."

I took one to goodwill a few years ago, I made sure they plugged it in and verified it worked.

Gave both of mine away to friends. HD tvs are still pretty cool for plenty of people, just gotta find them the right home. Feels much better than dumping them in trash or on the curbside somewhere.

Didn't have one. I was watching on my monitor. Any discs I owned, I had to rip with my Blu-ray drive to watch.

Wow! You’re lucky that your SXRD is still working. I took mine to the dump 4 years ago after watching a green-tinted screen for 3 years. The optical block went out after the extended warranty from the lawsuit. Couldn’t replace the tv as we needed the money while we were adopting our son.

A man's trash is another man's treasure, and it's a blessing to give.
