Default What's the best movie you hate?

So what's the most critically acclaimed movie you can't stand? Something with a positive tomatometer rating or in the IMDB top 250. My personal unfavorite is Requiem for a Dream. Just awful in every way, in my opinion. I initially rented it based on reviews and was shoked by how dumb I thought it was. Later, my girlfriend mentioned that it had been recommended to her, so I saw it again, with her, and I liked it even less. Ugh. I suppose many people have a movie they think is a stinker that everyone else seems to like. What's yours?

Awesome, just awesome.

Not the movie, your opinion. I can't stand it either.

David Cronenberg's Crash on the other hand, I thought was ok. You know, the one that came out 8 years earlier with the same name that nobody saw. It was about people that were obsessed with doing it in a moving car. It was rediculous, but it didn't have anything false to say about racism.

example:
[Show spoiler]Oh no! I shot a guy because I thought he was reaching for a gun. He wasn't reaching for a gun at all. I must be racist.

That was prejudice on his part, but for all the audience members who also thought they were racist because they thought he was reaching for a gun too. Ok, audience members, you can relax. They made you think he was reaching for a gun because WE ALREADY SAW THAT CHARACTER STEAL A CAR WITH A GUN!!! COME ON!!!

Yeah my Dad and sister loved the movie but it was all stuff we should have learned in grade 3. The movie goes on for ever telling you the same thing and not putting any type of spin on it.

Fully agree. When Crash grows up, it wants to be like Grand Canyon. (Unfortunately, I'm fairly certain that Crash was adopted.)

It's just a rip off of Amores Perros. Which unlike Crash, is amazing.

The Wrester last year was boooooring. I walked out of the theater. Broken Flowers with Bill Murray a few years ago. Both had several award nominations and were just horrible.

Bingo!

Wow, Forrest Gump... really? (A few posts back) I liked it, there are plenty of exceptions to that Oscar rule (Gladiator, Forrest Gump, Lambs, etc.) but for example, this years movies did not appeal to me at all.

I thought I was alone in hating Borat because it seemed like everybody and their Grandma loved it, but reflecting on it years later it seems pretty love/hate.

I forgot, I really, really hated Gladiator. Sorry. The laughable portrayal of Commodus was what did it in for me. Just like the gunfight aboard Titanic killed that movie for me. And the bathtub scene in Fatal Attraction.

Sometimes, Hollywood does one stupid thing and the movie gets totally ruined, to me anyway. It's like the old line in GOLDEN GIRLS, "She had me until the very last...."

For Gump it was the constant running back and forth across the U.S. that ended any hope of my liking the movie.

I don't like the Lord of the Rings series. They're just so long and so boring to me, and everyone looks the same.

I wish it would have been socially acceptable to stand up and applaude during Clerks II when Randell gave his speech on the series. Agree there, while good at the time you couldn't pay me to rewatch them. Throw Star Wars in there too, I can barely get through Empire now.

Bleh I still love LoTR but they HAVE not stood the test of time well and once the third Nolan Batman movie is released, only RoTK will still be in my top 10 of that trilogy.

I usually like what the mass majority likes overall but there have been select ones I hate that most love.

Some examples:
- Lord of the Rings trilogy
- 300
- Cars
- There Will Be Blood

can't say i'm surprised with the movies mentioned. these threads always tilt me but i need to read them anyway!

that said, i hated monty python's quest for the holy grail. all my friends used to quote it all the time, talked about how it was so awesome, i rented it and maybe it didn't age well? it was hyped and i hated it..i did enjoy the opening scene with the "horse trot" complete with coconut halves and the wedding sequence with gleeson owning ppl was absolutely hysterical but the rest i hated =/
