Default Toshiba BDX1500 Blu-ray/DVD Player

Hi Guys.

I just want to know has anyone bought this Blu-ray player before as it is only released from February 2014. I had purchased it online from HMV in Ireland last November that were bundled with ten blu-ray movies for €100.

I haven't played this yet as I don't have the correct TV yet. But as I am from Region B I just want to ask if this player can play region free Blu's? Is there any other issues to be wary of when using it on a plasma screen TV whenever I do eventually get one?

All of the Blu's that I bought from HMV in Dublin were all region free as I did some researching on them from Amazon yesterday.

Every BD player can play an ABC coded BD. It is when they aren't coded B.

Yes. I do understand that. But my issues is about other things that could happen regarding it's usage.

Does this BD player work when hooked up to my Toshiba Satellite C50-B-137 laptop via a HDMI cable? I tried doing that over a week ago and nothing happened at all.

The laptop has a DVD drive but I bought and upgraded Cyberlink PowerDVD software to version 14 on Christmas Day because that software plays both BD and 3D BD. It had the previous version PowerDVD 12 because it was already pre-loaded on the laptop as I bought it new from last July.

Do I need to buy an external blu-ray drive if the option of hooking up the BD player to the laptop fails?

Your laptop HDMI is output only, like on every other laptop ever made.

I'm not even sure there has ever been an HDMI input board for tower computers.

I recently ordered a region free Blu-ray of Batman Beyond Return of The Joker as a US Import on Amazon.co.uk to try and play the movie even though the player is region locked to region B/2 only.

Will this BD play on this player as it's not available in region 2 yet?

I have also recently purchased most of my other BD titles in my current collection from HMV or Tower Records in Dublin. Most of are stating no region on them whatsoever to suggest that they are region free as well.

Will these titles also play in this cheap BD player from Toshiba?

I am asking this question because I have read a lot of conflicting advice about standalone BD and region free players by searching about the topic on Google. What is the best advice you can give me at this time as I don't want to get too confused about this stuff?

Again...

Every BD player ever made and sold anywhere in the world will play every single BD ever made and sold in the world if encoded as ABC.

It is when they are NOT encoded in B that they won't play.

Cause...ABC includes....B.

Does that rule only apply to Movies but not TV Shows or is that rule irrelevant?

I had attempted to play a DVD off this earlier tonight. I played 1 DVD from a Volume 3 boxset of Batman The Animated Series to do a test run.

The set is a Region 1 boxset that is playable in the USA & Canada.

The good news is that it did play one of the DVDs perfectly as a first attempt. I did not do any further tests on it though.

What I am asking here is the following; Is this Toshiba Blu-ray player confirmed to play DVDs with any region code?
