For those who like Mulholland Drive, Lost Highway is most similar in hidden narratives, style, mind-F-ing, pace, feel...etc. It's basically Mulholland Drive's predacessor. It's sister movie.

Think; if you like Master of Puppets by Metallica, you'll probably like it's predacessor, Ride The Lightning, it's sister album.

You mean you can't find any write-ups about the film anywhere else on the internet?

It's honestly not a plot driven film. Nor is it reliant on snappy dialogue. It's really more about atmosphere and state of mind.

The comparison to Mulholland Drive - if you've seen it - is probably as good as you'd get, but if you've enjoyed the artistic leaps that David Lynch takes with any of his work, Lost Highway is worth seeing. I'd include it in the upper tier of his work.

So what's the best version of this film on blu ray? I understand that there is a 2K remaster from Japan? Anybody seen it? Is it region B friendly?

I own the Japanese box set. Haven't seen it yet. It's definitely region A locked though.
Want to compare it to the MK2 transfer for a forum member on here. Haven't had time yet and because it's region locked I can't use my regular BD player.

The box looks really great. I have uploaded quite a few pics of it.

It seems a new pre-order has just popped-up. Germany - 19th April, but this time coming from Studio Canal.

Summarizing a David Lynch film... It's really hard to do in case of his surreal works.

In some article that I read long time ago the author called Lost Highway, Mulholland Drive and Inland Empire Lynch's "Hollywood trilogy". I really like this description, because, while different aesthetically and unrelated story wise, their essence is very similar. So if you watched any the other two, it should give you the idea. Mulholland Drive is perhaps the easiest to understand and Inland Empire is the hardest.

P.S. It's probably irrelevant at this point, but I had to answer it. :P

The new German release uses the exact same source as the previous releases, but just with a tweaked colour grade (lowered highlights, higher mid-tones):

Waste of time. I'll wait for an eventual Criterion release supervised by Lynch.
