Default Disc Issues or Player Issue?

I bought the BD/DVD combo pack collection of the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy back in September. Earlier this week I started watching the Blu discs for the first time.

TPM disc had two minor skips during the last five minutes of the movie. No skips prior that I could tell, since I was splitting my attention between the movie and the computer. I thought, not a big deal.

ATOC disc, couple minor skips as well, still not too worried.

Watching ROTS today, though, I'm concerned. Had a few skips early on, but nothing too terrible. However, once it reached Anakin's fall, it started skipping more and froze a few times as well. I finally took the disc out rather than try to finish the movie.

Is this an issue with the Blu discs? I haven't tried the DVD discs or the Blu discs in the combo pack collection of the Original Trilogy yet to see if they're skipping as well. There aren't any scraches I can see, but the TPM disc does have what looks like a large fingerprint on the bottom of the disc that I can't get off even with a microfiber cloth. I always handle the discs by gripping the sides, never touching the bottom.

Or could it be an issue with the player? I've had it for 4 years. It's a Sony BDP S1200.

were you able to recreate the issues and if so, were they at the same point in the movie? if not, then I'm saying the player. you should always take the disc out, place it back in then go to that spot and see if it happens again.

also, try some other discs as well, something not from the same studio.

Just tried the TPM disc again; it didn't skip on the last five minutes at all this time. Tried the ROTS disc; a few skips seem to have smoothed out but others are still there. Will try with discs from other studios later.

If you don't have any disc cleaning solution, trying cleaning the discs with tap water. Don't soak it, just apply a dab or two on the discs and clean it, and see if it'll help. That may be able to remove the fingerprint as well because, a dry microfiber cloth won't get it off.
