Does the government have any understanding on the problems they've caused? Morrison said this tax was to help local business yet it hasn't helped Myer has it?

Myer's was in trouble long before the Government in collaboration with the ALP introduced the tax.

I'd be surprised if they see out the decade.

Before 2020, or before 2029?

Sent Amazon's CEO an email and got a response back:

"Hi Adam,

I'm Pranay from Amazon.com.au's Executive Customer Relations team. Jeff Bezos received your e-mail and I'm responding on his behalf.

I understand that you would like to know when the orders can be placed to Australia from other international marketplaces. Unfortunately, I don’t have an exact date to give you. We’ll keep working hard to make products from other international Amazon stores available as soon as we can.

Thanks for your understanding.

Might be of interest to people in this thread, but HMV UK might be going under

https://www.bbc.com/news/business-46699290

HMV Hong Kong recently (and without real warning) shut their doors forever too. I hope that's not a sign of things to come.

Even though I'd rather flush my money down the loo than spend it at Myer, that would be a tragic fate; the Myer store in Hobart burned to the ground on September 22, 2007 and only reopened on April 19, 2018 after 10.5 years of closure. To not even last 2 years, in hindsight, would serve as an anticlimax to its long-awaited revival in Tasmania at least. Of course, if their mark-up wasn't like 16,000% they'd probably have people swarming their stores.

With HMV going down, Amazon UK cannot re-open fast enough for me. The British boutiques have some highly desirable stuff coming out next year.

Regarding HMV, there's a complete series DVD set of Superman: TAS I want to get that only they have and when I register with them so I can get, I keep getting a message stating "Sorry, we can't process your activation at this time."

Also, another message from Amazon:

"Hi Adam,

Thank you for writing back to me. Building the infrastructure to comply with Australian GST laws across all international Amazon stores is extremely complex. In order to be compliant on 1 July 2018, we focused our efforts on building the infrastructure for amazon.com.au, and suspended exports from other international Amazon stores to ensure we remained compliant with the GST law.

Following customer feedback, we accelerated the build of the infrastructure to enable exports of products from amazon.com. We are currently building the infrastructure to enable the export of products sold and shipped by third party sellers and through other international Amazon stores.

Thanks for your understanding,
"

Completed an order from Amazon UK a couple of days ago. Sent it to Alfasent and have received appropriate emails, etc.

However, I just logged into their site and saw this message:

"Alfasent have ceased trading from 31st Dec 2018. We can no longer accept any new bookings."

Anyone know of any other UK re-directors?

Thanks for letting me know this as I was signed up with them and was about to use them for some upcoming Doctor Who releases from the UK.

There's forward2Me.

Anyone Have any idea on when or if Amazon UK is going to start selling to AU again? There is a Eureka box set I really want and Amazon UK is the only distributor who has any stock left of the title.

Still no idea. I just checked my cart and could not ship it to my Australian address.

You could do an online chat with them and "kindly" suggest they get a move on with the unblocking. I think we've waited long enough.

I am happy to use Amazon US. (All my orders are sent i parcel which is tracked and comes in about a week).

As far as UK orders are concerned direct ordering from Second Run, Eureka and Indicator is much better than Amazon. All use Royal Mail (9-12 days to Oz). All are shipped early. (I got DIAMONDS IN THE NIGHT in the mail 2 days before its release date.) Arrow is ok if you pay extra for tracking (Fedex) but they use Asendia for a cheaper option and my last order took over 3 weeks (my personal record is 34 days for the Rohmer box). I dislike Asendia.

For other UK labels I use Hive. They offer tracked and untracked but the price is a bit above Amazon’s. In some cases they match Amazon (the lack of gst helps). I ordered PINTER AT THE BBC and noticed that my final charge was almost the same as it would have been with Amazon. I may not go back to Amazon uk when they let us in again. I’m sick of damage and delays. Note: Indicator titles are not shipped at the release date and this is pissing UK customers off at present.
