Well that's what pop up, theirs no way to downgrade?? Cause it shows that my refurbished model has a newer firmware then the one on the link. It states the it will go from newer to lower firmware. Maybe that's the problem that it can't downgrade?

I haven't heard of any problems 'down grading', hmmmmm

is there anything other than the firmware on the thumb drive? If so remove it...also, no need to format the drive

Just the iso file that gets downloaded. After the failed hack I put it back in the pc and it shows 3 files instead of the 1 iso. It's the downloaded iso file and a folder that contains nothing and another file that I don't recall what it is.

Thanks for the info in this thread. Picked up a refurbed Insignia NS-WBRDVD2 for $50 at Best Buy.com and used the firmware from the links here and I'm in region-free heaven. Finally got to see my Beautiful Girls & Bend It Like Beckham BD's!

Anybody know if the firmware for the NS-BRDVD3 is the same as the one for the NS-WBRDVD3? I know the 2 and 4 is just a matter of the wireless, but the NS-WBRDVD3 is the 3D player.

I just got my player last night from BB, so is it better to burn an Iso CD or to use the USB method? but if you use the USB method does what format does the USB have to be in, FAT 32 or NTFS? also do you just copy the downloaded iso file over to the USB or the contents?

Thanks, I have never had this player and I want to get it right lol.

I got an empty FAT USB stick and saved the file to it. But first download the file to your harddrive and then put it into your USB stick from there put it into the insignia (while off) and then turn it on. Follow the directions on screen.

OK Thanks I will try it out, so you left it as an iso file then.

Yep, it really was that simple and only took less than a minute to do the update (or technically the "down"date). I didn't even use an empty stick. It immediately found the file amidst all my other junk on it

From what I've read you can upgrade the firmware but later on, do the downgrade to have it region free. Plus you need a pc to download the firmware to a USB stick.

i have a mac so don't have access to a pc to download the original firmware.

any suggestions or help?
It looks like your player came with firmware thats past the region free access point and is now locked out, but there is a newer firmware to the one you have, but you need the older one to be region free. your in the middle

Either upgrade to the newest (thats still not region free), or downgrade (and get region free access)

I have a Mac myself and thats how we found the problem. The only way around it is to use 'bootcamp' and duel boot your mac to OSX or Windows OS, but that entails getting a new copy of MS Windows...I couldn't find a way around it other than d/l it on a Windows machine

Yes, all current Panasonic Blu-ray players, recorders and home theater systems can be made multiregion for DVD and Blu-ray by installing enhanced firmware.

In addition to the multiregion stuff, the enhanced firmware will also deactivate user prohibitions

Search the web for "panasonic enhanced blu-ray firmware" and you will find it.
