My brother is off grid and uses a generator when he watches movies but he has gone through 4 players soon after getting them, some replaced under warranty. He isn't tech savvy at all and I am wondering if somehow the generator is damaging the player,he can watch dvds even though the blu-rays won't play.Blu-ray do play when he first gets a player but soon do not play.Any ideas?

This is just a wild guess, but I'm wondering if the HDCP circuitry in the players is somehow getting damaged. If that's the case, I don't know if the generator would do that, or if there is a different problem, such as a faulty cable. Is he using the same HDMI cable every time?
