I also noticed one at Walmart itís from a brand called black web but I think thatís the in-store brand like Sylvania is for Best Buy. They look similar, they might be made from the same company. Last time I went it was like 135? I think that was a sale price. I was thinking of getting it to try it out since I havenít seen any reviews yet.

the Sylvania brand of the portable blu ray player from what i saw on Best Buy online, theres a USB Port useful for what though? at least it has headphone jack plug in and the power cord charger to charge it right back up.

as long as even a portable blu player doesnt involve HDMI cords then maybe Ill buy the Sylvania brand since I have a small portable Sylvania DVD player that I got this past summer and it comes in handy to watch DVDs anywhere I go

Are portable players reliable in terms of not damaging the discs? I haven’t used a portable DVD player yet due to worries that it might scratch discs.

To Donl1282, yes portable DVD players are pretty good and reliable. the sylvania dvd portable player that i have it plays my dvd movies just fine.

As for the new blu ray portable player which i just noticed today on Best Buy online, i still think 160ish bucks is a bit spendy. Ill wait awhile for the price to go down the next couple months. Ill buy it if it was maybe at 100 bucks

Thanks for the info. Iím thinking about getting a portable player to watch an episode or two of many shows I have during my hour long lunch at work.

It's also worth mentioning that a slimline Blu Ray drive can be used to play titles on a laptop for under $100. The free Leawo player program can be used with the slimline drive and typically works just fine. I know that there are certainly benefits to using a portable BD player by itself but for those that already have a laptop and want to add a bit of portable functionality this is one option.

I use an HP Laptop with a built in Blu-ray player that I got years ago. I will dig it out and get a model number for it. Believe it is a 17'' screen.

I picked up a Blackweb portie for $112 this morning, on clearance at Walmart. It has a 10-inch screen, but it feels very flimsy. I don't think any of the current models are as robust as the older ones with smaller screens.
