Correction, the UBP-X800 does appear now to be playing 1080i50 discs with no issues as long as they're not region coded.

Does anyone know if the LG UP870 can convert 50hz to 60?

I can confirm the UBP-X800 can play back 1080i 50hz BDs and PAL DVDs.

However, keep in mind the Blu-rays in that are 50hz in question MUST BE Region ABC/ALL while it's Region 0 or ALL for the DVDs. A US retail UBP-X800 will not play BD region B/C or DVD region 2/3/4/5/6 locked discs, and vice versa for any other variant of that player sold in regions like Japan, South America, and Europe.

Can someone who owns the region modded Sony BDP-S3700 Player from 220-electronics confirm it it converts 50Hz to 60Hz?

Not directly can I confirm it, but

I have a Sony 6700 modded from Bombay that does convert to 50Hz to 60Hz. What I haven't been able to confirm if the Sony can be forced to output 50Hz directly like my OPPO does

Hi, I'd just like to ask if anyone can confirm whether the LG BD670 can actually convert 50i to 60i (my guess is it can, but the list doesn't specify) and whether it can perform this operation for both Blu-rays and DVDs. Thanks!

I've gone back through a few pages on this thread, but not seen whether the Oppo 105 and/or 205 blu-ray players are compatible with 50hz material. I see older Oppo models on the compatible list. Anyone know on the 105 and newer 205 - I have both.

Every OPPO I'm aware of is compatible with 50hz -- the unit can be set to output directly 50HZ or convert internally to 60Hz. Iknow the 103 and 203 are and it would seem incredibly unlikely they'd remove that capability from the 105/205.

Pretty much the same basic region free module can be used for all OPPO 83-205 so it

I think if you look in the owners manual it has a list of frequency handling.

^ Not the same thing

It does play 50hz, yes. But the versions sold by 200 Electronics convert it to 60. That has the benefit of compatibility. The ideal way is native 50hz output to a display that natively accepts 50hz.

Not tech savvy, however I'm happy I can play all my region tv shows/movies (I have many UK/Scandinavian, etc. crime dramas, tv shows, etc. that I enjoy) on my Sony BDP-S3700 region free blu-ray dvd player!

I also own a couple of Seiki & Toshiba region free blu-ray dvd players that play these as well!!

Anyone have any feedback on the LG region free players from 220-electronics (or anywhere else for that matter)? The price is attractive, but I've heard that LG players are very cheaply built.

I have the 203 and the annoying thing about it is that there's no selection for NTSC, PAL, or Multisystem displays like there is on the older ones- the best setting is "Auto" but some TVs, like my LG, can display 50hz signals but the EDID info they send out doesn't indicate that, so the player automatically converts that to 60hz which results in a glitchy frame rate. You can manually switch the player to output only 50hz, but then have to set it back to Auto or else it will convert all other frame rates to 50hz which also looks bad.

Does the Output Resolution "Source Direct" not do this automatically like it does on my 93?

If not at least it allows you to force it to the correct framerate
